I have been a client of the Continental LTCS for almost 2 decades. Since my accident on 6/14/2022, I have called Continental no fewer than 30 times and have spoken to no fewer than 16 people (some multiple times). Here we are a year later and I still do not have answers to questions, let alone resolutions to concerns and claims. Let that chronology speak for itself if you are considering doing business with this company. BTW, as of today 6/22/23, there is still NO END IN SIGHTS.

I am worried, reading so much about the poor experiences of customers who have faithfully paid premiums for years but run into difficulties when needing to file claims.

My mother obtained a long term care policy in 2007, at a reasonable rate (approximately $1.600/year premium) for a very low coverage plan (lifetime maxium of $107K). 2 months before her 80th birthday, she was notified that her rates would increase from $400/quarter to $1,023/quarter over a period of 2 years, a 150% increase and frankly unaffordable for an elderly woman on a fixed income. She had to surrender her policy. They said the rate increase had nothing to do with her age (which I'm not sure I believe), but to increase her policy by this much right before she might actually need it, is predatory. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security with one of these plans - my... Read More

In 2002 when my wife Janice F. Cox and I, Charles A. Cox were looking for eventual long term care insurance, Farmers New World Life Insurance looked like just what we would eventually need when we could no longer care for ourselves. We have paid in $55, 545.68 as of December 2022. However, when we saw that Janice was in need of care beyond what Charles could offer at home, we applied for funds to help with the expense and we turned to Farmers. We were not totally clear about how to go about obtaining such help. Somewhere in mid 2022 we found that Janice would need assisted living and eventually found one in Brookdale Senior Living Solutions. Before we interviewed with Brookdale, we got in... Read More

CNA has been absolutely terrible in helping resolve any issue including: assignment of benefits, getting paid, switching agencies and billing. The latest fiasco for which I have yet to get paid is a statement that stated it covered the time period of 12/19/2022 through 1/01/2023. When looking at the statement the billing days were for 12/19/2022 through 12/25/2022. There was nothing to do with the week of 12/26/2022 through 01/01/2023. However, the prior statement was for 12/19 -12/25. Therefore I was paid nothing. Expect very long waits and possible disconnection on the phone after waiting for an hour. Expect agents who cannot help you. We have paid premiums for years. My advice... Read More

CNA LTC gladly accepted my premiums for 24 but its' a total different experience receiving our daily benefit payments. The claim for benefits was accepted but the reimbursement process is very slow. I get the distinct impression claim support personnel look for way to deny payments, treat you like a third party claimant rather than a first party policyholder. The stress factor is greatly enhanced dealing with CNA claims process while caring for my wife of 62 years that now has dementia Alzheimer's.

I don't usually leave reviews. But my husband needed to use his long term care coverage for 2 1/2 years. There is a learning curve-----forms must be sent monthly and exactly the way the CNA wants them filled out. But if done right---the checks will come regularly. We had no problems

My policy for long term care was with another company and sold to Continental not long ago. We have paid for this policy for 20 years. It is now time to use it for an in home caregiver. We have gotten the run around from this company for over three months. They don’t call back, they say they will open a cube for all correspondence to be put in, when the email arrived, our daughter tried to open it and got a sales for clothing site. It’s a nightmare. We have ledgers showing when our calls started with them and notes what was said. It is so, so sad to be treated in this manner when you need help the most. They are disgusting!

I am very disappointed in your long term policy. My mom paid on this policy over 20 years even with the outrages prices. My mom passed in June we turned in the paperwork always got lost. We did not want anyone to take care of her but us but there came a time 1 week of home care and one day of hospice and I just got a call from hospice that the long term did not pay. Mom had cancer and memory loss. I called numerous times about the waiting period and was told it would be waived due to the circumstances once again lied to. Just tried to call after 15 minutes hung up again this is very normal. I can read a policy and understand i. Will try one more time before I report you to the BBB... Read More

We have been fighting with CGI to get LTC benefits for my father's LTC for almost a year now. They ask for stuff to be faxed and then they lose it - repeatedly. Then when the entire form package has been filled out and sent, they magically come up with new forms that have to be filled out and were never sent in the first place. Then they lose those. They recently said they had issued a check for 7 months of care but are refusing to tell me where they mailed it - they said all the information I had to validate the account was incorrect, despite the fact that they had been using that identifying information for months. They told the business manager at the care home where they were... Read More

My dealings with them have been horrible . They are negligent and every person has a different answer it took over 4 months of calls to speak to a supervisor. The last 3 rate raises resulted in an astronomic amount and that is for 7 years !! They have made a series of mistakes and caused undue stress. Meanwhile my mom has given them tons of $$

Today I received a letter saying my monthly premium for CNA Long-Term Care Insurance will go up 25% as of 10.1.2021 to $114.71. Seems like their customer service office is in Haiti...beware. jj

CNA administers a Continental long term care policy and it has been terrible dealing with CNA. Call them three different times and you will get three different answers. It is almost like they don't care what they tell you, and whether it is right or wrong. One person says the benefits are exhausted on date XXX. The next day another representative admits that was an error and says the benefits actually expire on date YYY. Call one more time and the answer changes again. Want to speak with a supervisor or the care coordinator assigned to your claim? Good luck. I have called at least 10 times and I've never been able to connect with either. These are terrible people to deal with!

On 10 May I submitted invoices for an approved claim. On 11 May I called to ensure those invoices were received and submitted for payment. I was told that they were and I would see finds in 10 business days. When 14 business days had passed, I called and learned that the payment was still being processed. It has now been 6 weeks since the claim was approved - covering 4 months of care - and I will have to make a fifth out of pocket payment because of the delay in "processing".

CNA is a very difficult company to deal with - They will take your money and when it is time to use the policy they will deny your claim. My family member (my mother) has paid for 20plus years and when she needed to invoke the policy they refused to pay. First of all- they claimed the caregiver was not affiliated with an agency- even though we used the same agency and same caregiver for 8 years (for my dad and they finally paid after seeking legal assistance) . Seven months later they have not paid one dime for my mother . Better off investing in stock market. I have appealed many times and lost several times. Will be seeking legal help ! Do not ever give in to this company.... Read More

This is quite possibly the worst LTC company you could have. After getting hung up on 5 times today I finally spoke with the rudest individual who was totally incompetent and incredibly rude. I wish I could shout this out from the rooftops and unfortunately, they didn't allow me to leave a review...which would have been scathing. I am still in awe with how rude she was and can only hope that that call was monitored. My rating will be a zero if that is possible.

I don't understand how this company has a rating of 2.5 out of 5.0. All reviews are negative, which go along with my experience with this company. They have their hand out for your payment, but when it comes to paying out a claim they will reject for the slightest reason, delaying your payout. They are currently in arrears to me for 4 past months of valid claims from the same nursing home where Dad was domiciled. They are masters of the stall, and make receiving reimbursement for claims a frustrating and aggravating experience. Do not put any of your money into this, I'm thinking its a scam to put you off into death and keep the remainder of your payments. I rate them only a 1 star due to... Read More

I am very dissatisfied with customer service. No one seems to know the answer to my dilemma with payment of benefit. I have been sent to management team many times and they do not know the answer. They always say they will call me back, but to no avail they never do. Meanwhile my aunt is having to pay out of pocket for care until they can figure things out. They have different ideas and say they can not interpret claims departments reason. Claims department will not call me back either. Go figure......I have spent hours on the phone with them.

My father has paid into his long term Insurance for 25 years and now they tell him there is a premium increase of 95% to keep the plan. Has anyone thought of a class action suit?

These people are complete crooks and scam artists. My husband has paid into this policy for over 30 years. They don't deny the claim. They just don't pay. They are rotten thieves. He needs this money. This was paid for. They are assholes as well on the phone. Don't use them for anything or use any company associated with them.

DO NOT use this company !!! My mother paid more that $42, 000 in premiums (16) years for CNA long term care insurance. In April she moved into assisted living due to sight and mobility issues. I contacted CNA and sent letter from mom's doctor explaining why she should be in assisted living. CNA denied the claim. I requested a evaluation be done. CNA sent in their own evaluator. The evaluator came into the facility without notifying the staff or administrator. Based on the evaluation they had done, CNA denied my mother's claims. The reason stated was that she only met one of their criteria for benefits (she must meet two). Although mom need showering and dressing assistance, their... Read More
