I bought a one year subscription to Babbel in good faith. No where did I see a 20 day return policy, and I am still looking. I was too busy to use it for a couple of weeks (thus the lengthy subscript so I wouldn't be rushed), tried 3 times to use it after that (with some time in between to reflect) and then gave up. I found the "course" to be confusing, illogical, non-intuitive and difficult to follow. Nouns and adjectives were used without context, there was no instruction at all about verbs and verb tenses and the questions at the end of exercises were confusing and without explanation. I accepted a voucher because of the intransigence of the agent and now can't give it away. I am... Read More

There is absolutely no way that anyone can simply purchase only a 1-month, or a 3-month subscription, or any subscription for any given amount of time. Babbel simply puts all customer subscriptions on automatic self-renew, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO OPT OUT OF AUTO SELF-RENEW. What that means is that once you give your banking information or debit/credit card information over to Babbel, YOU WILL BE LOCKED IN WITH THEM FOR LIFE! They will keep taking your money every month for the rest of your life. They are basic con artists.

I signed up for an annual subscription in 2018 for about $45 per year. The account automatically renewed this year, which was fine by me. 6 months later, I got a notification that my account would be renewing again. I checked my billing page and sure enough, they doubled the price of my account without any warning by shifting me from an annual plan to a 6 month plan for the same price. So shady. I really like the language learning software, but if they're going to try to scam me into paying double the subscription fee that I agreed to, I am not going to continue using their program.

over promises and under delivers... interface is not very good. do not purchase a year subscription. only have 14-days for refund. I tried it for 1-month and i am not finding it useful, but they would not provide a prorated refund.... no refund. unable to speak with anyone live, just email.

Not as good as Duolingo, and Duoling is FREE. Babbel feels very 1960's. There is a lot of memorization of verb tenses that you MUST do in order to move to the next screen. I am waiting for a teacher to have me stand in a corner for not being able to memorize verb tenses out of context. If you are good at memorization then you most likely don't even need this program to begin with. If you are not so so good at memorization then you don't need this program either, you are better off with Duolingo or "Spanish with Paul". My recommendation is to save your money and use Duolingo and / or spend some money on a very low tech (but it works)program called: "Spanish with Paul".

Over promises and under delivers. Slow and awkward to use. Speech recognition not very good. Way over states your performance so you think you are gong well when you can barely speak. Worst of all, they auto bill and give you no warning so you are forced to pay. Very unethical company.

I have done a few lessons and found it not very user friendly to complete. Why can't we use the keyboard to type as it is done in Duolingo. It is a very slow way to complete the lessons. Please, make some changes or I will cancel my subscription. thanks, Jeanninne vo

it is not user friendly at all. doesn't allow to go back a page or two within the lesson in order to review or remember what you just learned. by this i mean you have to go and do the whole lesson again and that is very time consuming and discouraging. Babel software need lots of improvement and update in other to become more useable and user friendly. i am starting to loose interest if nothing changes.

Their speech recognition software is extremely bad and frustrating. Even after having complained to them many times they seem to be unable to fix it. So for this reason alone I will probably switch to another program.

I would be very careful with how one signs up with Babbel . If you decide that Russian is too difficult and you want Italian, you can olnly switych if you sign up with them directly ; Dont use a third party ( Apple Store, Google) as Babbel will not switch languages if you dont order through them directly. You would have to ask Apple for a refund and nitially they said no to me but releted ) It will then take you up to 30 days for the credit to register on your credit card / bank statement. I could not find that condition in advance on Babbel's T&C page ( It might be there, but I didnt see it) . I feel that should be made more explicit. The lessons seem fine, but be forewarned about any... Read More

I contacted babbel to let them know an annual payment had been taken by mistake when i hadn't subscribed to their service for years. Their response essentially said, yes, a payment had been taken and i now have access to the service. This isn't okay. Beware of cancelling your subscription with babbel anywhere except the payment source (bank/paypal etc)

There is too much emphasis on writing in the correct form of words. You may be able to say them but Babbel gigs you if it is not spelled correctly. This is not a good program if you are just interested in speaking the language.

I tried this many years ago. It sucked back then. Nowadays, you can go to YouTube and learn just about any language. I learned to play guitar via YouTube in a month. It all depends how much time you put into it. I do speak fluent English and Spanish already. I studied Hebrew and lived in Israel for a year, but have lost most of the language (it was many years ago). It is an intensely difficult language, but it all depends on memory. Hint: use music and silly ideas to learn words, for example, I still know the Hebrew alphabet that I learn some 30 years ago by memorizing it to the of Yankee Doodle. And, I used silly idea to learn words, such as, MACAR, means 'to buy', so I tied the word to... Read More

Your program sucks. I didn't expect to have a class in punctuation's, and vowels. First I wanted to be able to speak the language! Perhaps later once I acquired the ability to speak well then perhaps writing the language would have been an option. The format is not user friendly. My option now is to cancel my 6 month subscription. I am very disappointed

Started off great, however, I have a technical issue that caused the software to not work properly. I’ve requested assistance from Babbel support 7 times in 3 days. NoResponse, no help, Nada. Babbel is great when it works. Why have they not responded in 3 days? Should I expect non-existence support?

I joined for about a week. That was enough to determine that it was not a very user friendly system. It was even difficult to cancel. I have no idea if it will reimburse me. I would seriously advise anyone considering Babbel to look at other online courses. I may have wasted $44.00

Absolutely terrible. If you do a trial and cancel they continue to charge you. Their customer service appears to be located in Germany and never get back to you except for some automated email. Save your money, do you not subscribe to even try their free trial – total rip off!!!!!

My problem is very basic and frustrating. Once you start a lesson you cannot page back. You may think you know a concept but realize you need to page back and review the content. The only way back to start the lesson over again. Really? I can't imagine a text book or reference book where it would be impossible to page back. Why limit this capability? I find myself printing pages so I can review if necessary. Don't plan to renew my subscription.

Here is a screen shot of the advertising that has been plaguing my Babbel learning experience. Please check with the history on this problem - I have reported this problem several times now. So far, I do not have recognition from ANYONE AT BABBEL COMPANY that advertising to existing customers is even happening. First, please acknowledge that your company is advertising for new business to existing customers. I do not like this. I have paid my money and I am using the program. I am insulted that you would further advertise to me. Second, the advertisement appears at the very end of a lesson. I have just finished lesson 6. I have corrected my errors. And then the... Amazing product! Had always wanted to learn Spanish, so I bought Babbel and started in their beginner courses. The lessons teach you everything you need to know to speak Spanish. I've had some great conversations with my Spanish friends -- can't wait to keep learning!

I found this website and loved it, so I paid the fee and signed up. I got he first lesson under my belt, and was anxious to move on. When I logged on the next day it asked me if I wanted to continue, or start at the beginning again, I chose to continue. But while I pushed the "continue" button, it kept bringing me back to the beginning. When I contacted online support, they instructed me to remove and reinstall the app, so I did. And started at the beginning again. Once I finished the first lesson, and it asked me if I wanted to continue, I pressed continue. And it took me to the beginning again I give up. Got a refund and will try something else.
