Xfinity is a brand that focuses on cable TV, internet, telephone, and wireless services. Headquartered in Philadelphia, the company was originally founded under the name Comcast Cable in 1981. Today it serves customers in 39 states and the District of Columbia.

Xfinity offers a broad range of internet service plans that deliver download speeds from up to 60 Mbps to up to 2,000 Mbps and cost between $34.99/month and $299.95/month. Xfinity is one of the largest ISPs in the nation, bringing the internet to over 25 million subscribers in 39 states and Washington, DC. Internet connections can be bundled with TV service and mobile phone plans and can be configured for optimal connectivity with smart home devices. Mobile plans are available to all Xfinity ISP customers and run on Verizon's 5G network, one of the most reliable networks on the market. Prices are highly competitive compared to other big-name carriers. In addition, Xfinity internet service subscribers receive Xfinity Flex, a personalized 4K streaming box free with their ISP plans.

Xfinity Internet Service Plans

Because Xfinity offers so many different telecommunications services and bundles them together in a variety of ways, choosing a plan can be a daunting experience. For the purposes of comparison, we've focused on internet-only plans. It's worth noting, though, that some of its bundled telecom packages are very attractively priced. Keep in mind that promotions come and go and that you should check the Xfinity website for the latest offers.

Xfinity Customer Service

In the last few years, the Xfinity has either made modest gains or remained unchanged in its customer satisfaction scores. Most recently, they edged up slightly to land just under the industry's average customer satisfaction rate. Our conclusion: while customer service is not a strong point for the internet service provider industry as a whole, Xfinity provides customer service that is on par with industry averages. However, customer satisfaction with ISPs as a whole is the lowest of any segment of the telecom industry.

Xfinity customers can communicate with the support department in three ways: via an online chat, in-person at Xfinity stores, and by phone. This last option has been revised so that people who want to speak to a company representative can leave their phone number, rather than wait on hold, and receive a call back.

Xfinity Integration

Xfinity rates highly with us for its ability to integrate well with a variety of smart home products, including Nest, Kwikset, ecobee, LIFX, and Chamberlain. Although these devices can connect to all types of internet connections, Xfinity works hard to ensure that the set-up process goes smoothly. It also offers a number of articles and tutorials on how to create your own smart home.

Xfinity: The Bottom Line

At their core, all ISP providers are pretty much alike: they offer a set amount of data at a particular speed for a defined price. And as repeated consumer surveys suggest, they all have poor reputations for customer service. Xfinity does stand out in several ways, however. First, its range of plans, speeds, and price points is quite broad. Serious gamers who need fast internet connections, people on a budget who just want a bare-bones system to monitor their home security system, large families whose various internet-enabled devices are all likely to be operating at once--Xfinity has plans for all of these and more. The company regularly offers special promotions and discounts, so careful shopping may well yield a robust plan that is under budget. What's more, many of those plans--especially at the lower end--don't require a long-term contract commitment. For these reasons, customers who have a choice of ISPs should strongly consider Xfinity.

I added tv onto my bill last month and the rep told me it was going to be $60 more a month. It was double that. Called to cancel this morning and they raised my internet bill $50 a month!!! So, they lied about the tv charge and then when I called them on it, they increased my internet bill. Avoid these jerks at all costs!!!
