Consumer Reviews

An A+ rating from BBB gives an insight into how ProtectMyID is generally regarded by its customers which has been generally been positive.

Bottom Line

Protect My ID clients can enjoy the security of working with a company that is associated with Experian. However, its identity theft services still needs some work. It does not offer some of the more salient features that some of the top identity theft services have. This might not be sufficient for those who require higher levels of security.

I waited on hold for an hour and a half and no one answered the phone. I had a question that could not be answered on line. If they are so busy, they must be making a lot of money and could hire more people to answer their phones. They were recommended by AAA but I will let them know what poor customer service they provided. I will check out other companies that provide the same service to find one that will answer the phone.

Twice over the last couple of months, I have not been able to log in. I pay for the premium service, but they can't even keep their site up and running. Since the recent massive hack at Experian, I haven't been able to log on. There is no indication that I am actually receiving monitoring services when I need it most.

I have this service from Experian plus access to my Experian Fico score thru a credit card. When my Fico score dropped 17 point's with no changes in my financial status having occurred, I checked Protectmyid for alerts - nothing. I asked them for help understanding why my Fico score would drop if there was no negative information. After multiple calls to their foreign customer service reps and transfer to nowhere, they could not provide any information. They did confirm that they track negative information. This service is useless. I believe it is a scam and definitely do not recommend it.

I was enrolled because I was part of the T-Mobile compromise, which, to my understanding, was Experian's fault to start. So it is ironic that they are now "protecting" me. It is a lame service, and I feel that this is designed more to try to sell me additional service(s), especially when these expire

Because my identity was potentially compromised in several of the bigger well known breaches, I have both AllClear ID and Protect My ID. I recently boyght a truck. The dealer's finance department ran my credit with many lenders. I received numerous timely alerts from Protect My ID. I never received anything from AllClear ID. Thinking that maybe there was a problem with the notification setup, I logged on to the AllClear ID site...still there was nothing. It seems to me that ProtectMy ID does exactly what they say they'll do and All Clear ID does nothing.

I called to ask about +55 and family plan. The representative was unable to get me a cost of the plan, unless is signed up for the "Free Trial". I'm sorry, if the company can't provide a a cost for +55 and a family plan, that they advertise on their web site, I would not do business with them.

My info was breached via a hack into their service...they offer 2 years free. Really? Why would I acquire services from a company who was the cause in my info being breached to begin with?

Terrible company. Their site doesn't work right, you are on hold forever when calling, their reps don't know what they are talking about. I shudder to think what would happen if there was a problem.
