Headquartered in Ireland and employing over 17,000 people worldwide, Experian plc is one of the three main credit bureaus and a worldwide leader in consumer and business credit reporting.

On the consumer side, the company offers a variety of programs designed to help people understand, monitor, and improve their credit.

One of the products Experian offers is IdentityWorks. IdentityWorks is a convenient and comprehensive credit monitoring service combined with an extensive identity theft component. IdentityWorks is available in two versions, Plus and Premium.

Identity theft Protection with Experian IndentityWorks

For the price, Experian's identity theft protection offering is pretty impressive. Not only do you get all of the features you would usually expect from the best identity theft protection companies, you also get the strongest credit component out there.

Aside from myFICO -- which is more expensive -- identity theft protection packages generally do not give you access to your official FICO score. This is a valuable commodity in and of itself.

Other players typically give you a VantageScore, or "educational" score. While these scores can still be valuable in helping you understand your credit picture, they can also be many points lower or higher than the actual score most lenders and financial institutions will be looking at.

IndentityWorks provides you with the Experian score daily, and all three scores and credit reports quarterly.

Other notable features include the quick credit report lock, the breath of websites monitored for your information worldwide, and the dedicated fraud assistance.

Received it as a free service after one of the never ending 'data breaches' by institutions. Signed up, checked the info, there was a problem, and the only way to address it was to call (no email, online chat, etc.). On the phone with muzac holds for over 30 minutes, still no answer. Glad I didn't pay for the service, wouldn't recommend others pay for it - if there's a problem, seems not much you can or they will do about it.

I had this for a few years and felt good about it.. Then I decided to login to the website and see if anything was amiss. My credentials would not work, it said my email address wasn't on file (even though I get an email from them every month), then you can authenticate with your SSN, nope, never heard of me! I'm paying $12 a month for what? I canceled my credit card on file and now their hounding me to renew. Take a hike! Total garbage, glad I didn't bother to call support, it would end up like all the other reviews here. Too bad you can't rate them as a zero. Big name means nothing if you can't deliver.

What a piece of crap tool. Outside of the clean looking site, the Boost tool just doesn't work. I am unable to authenticate into PNC (API issues at Experian) and nothing was found via my Huntington bank account, even though I pay all of my bills via electronic transfer. Their "boost" doesn't work at all and their customer support, whom barely speak English (sound like they just ran across the border and this was the first job they were able to find) have no clue on how the system works and are COMPLETELY non-technical. This includes the female supervisor that I spoke to... completely useless individual, I could barely understand her.

It’s difficult getting ahold of an agent who can help with upgrades in service, answer questions about your account as it appears on the screen or Inaccessibility to information and options appearing on the screen that you either want or think you’re paying for. For example, was there inquiry about my social security, and if so, did it appear on the dark web?

Very frustrating to be notified by Experian that my credit score has dropped significantly . After 2 hours I finally was able to speak a with real person, rather than a computer. NObody can explain why this happened. My debt is greaty reduced, no new loans, no inquiries. I have been in tears.

Inaccurate and unreliable product! STAY AWAY!!! After paying and paying for months for the product I had an issue. While speaking to a top supervisor in Experian Carrie Higginbotham, she clearly admitted that this product is totally not accurate and you can't rely on it. But they still refused to refund the membership. Worst customer service ever. Inaccurate and unreliable product!

I have not been able to access my account for months. I have my user name and password written down and available. I'm told it is not valid. When I submit my email for user name, it never comes. When I ask for help, a robot refers me back to sign-in. I get no help at all. I will cancel and find a more responsive company.

Stay away from Experian. We had a membership for the past 3 years and I did like the service. My wife was locked out of her account and we tried calling them and not 1 person answers the phone. It took 3 days to cancel our membership. Avoid at all costs.

You would think that Experian being as large as it is, would have better customer service. My problem is that Experian automatically renewed both my wife and my subscriptions. This would normally be great because you get uninterrupted service. HOWEVER, when I tried to log into my account, neither my wife nor I showed up as a member. Yep, we are paying for a service and not even a member. I tried to call the customer support phone number for some help, and its all ROBO-DIRECT. You can't press "0" for operator or ask for "Representative". When I called their customer support number, I had to give my social security number, whereby I was promptly told I'm not in there system and then... Read More
