Don't do it. Don't chose them. All is well and good until something goes wrong. My wheelchair was in an accident towards the end of June. I called the wheelchair store where I got it and they came and picked it up. I WENT THROUGH HELL all summer long until October trying to get my repairs approved, meanwhile, not really being able to go anywhere or do anything. I have very limited mobility and can barely get around my very small apartment without any help. So, they FINALLY approved the repair after MONTHS of appeals, etc. I got the chair back and after about 4 hours, I was getting a fault code again. The store picked it up and put in the part that they didn't know the chair needed... Read More

I have WellCare Part D prescription coverage. The Pro is it is much less expensive for me with the meds I take. Also I live in a community with no CVS pharmacies and WellCare has two preferred providers to choose from. The cons are this company is impossible to reach, to figure out information you badly need to find, and they care absolutely nothing for the clients they serve. The one time I did finally reach a human being to talk to she kept arguing with me that my community had no non CVS pharmacies as preferred providers. She also had no idea how much my copays were going to be. She could give me no way to seek online where I was at on my personal meds. I could find no way on their site... Read More

This is now open season for 2024 Medicare. I did NOT appreciate receiving an automated telephone call from the marketing department of WellCare at 5:22 a.m. PST. Automated calls should have restricted calling times depending upon the time zones. Note: Our area code is 702, which is within the PST time zone.

Transportation: was told and appeared on website it needed 72 hrs advance notice- not true! It’s 3 business days. Trips can ONLY be to approved providers- no grocery store trips. Drs say not getting paid, dropping many. Told no premium but have. Chgd back to UHC. Tired of lies. Had to research DMEs myself, takes3 wks and 3 days to get. ‘Specialists” took 4 days to get back to me wo answer. Hire me- did it in an hr, found DME takes Medicare allotment. Terrible insurance.

Unbelievable horrendous customer “service,”. Agents or supervisors not any better. Seems as if I’m bothering them with one question. Trying to call corporate office, no number can be found. If issue is not resolved I will write corporate a letter with my concerns. Or maybe to Biard of WellCare is a better option Frustoin Georgia.

I have gone through different health providers, some very good like "Leon Medical Center", others regular to bad like "Humana" or "UnitedHealthCare" but where "Wellcare" arrives there can be no one who can surpass it in indolence, lack of attention, entangled Telephone mechanisms that make you stay more than an hour for any health management. When I need to do something with this provider, I have to take extra blood pressure pills, so I don't get infected. I do not understand how the government does not demand a minimum level from companies that serve the health of the people. There is no negative rating that I can give them, they only deserve contempt.

In november I requested information booklet advertised on tv to be sent to me. Not received in a reasonable amount of time so first of december I called again and made the same request. Person who responded suggested my address may have been the problem but she would send another. Nothing received. Called again and requested to speak to a supervisor. Thirty five minutes later I finished the call after all the information was recorded as a "grievience". If given a choice = choose another company!

I changed to Humana and tried to stop my automatic payments out of bank account. I was put through hell trying to accomplish this. After going through all the questions, I was told I could not terminate. I finally asked for a supervisor, Ivy, and she assured me that I would not be charged. I told her that I would write a complaint. Horrible customer service.

Dont use this Wellcare, it is a scam and offers terrible customer service. They charge more for prescriptions than having no insurance. I tried to pay more for a better plan, the representative said they made the change. Instead, canceled his insurance and left him with no coverage for 2 months

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!! For a medicare advantage company this is the absolute worst experience I have ever had. Very difficult to deal with and to try to get authorization for any procedure expect to be on the phone multiple times for at least an hour per call. You have to be the "middleman" between them and your Physician.

HORRIBLE!! I had this plan about 3 years ago. When signing up they make it appear you have great coverage and many doctors to choose from, however when you actually need a doctor it is impossible to get appointments. IF you finally get a doctor and test are ordered WellCare does not approve the services. Getting appointments with specialists if you manage to get appointments you will wait months!! Calling WellCare is useless! There are many plans out there far superior to WellCare... Keep looking you will find better coverage with doctors actually available to see you! FIRST AND FOREMOST REMEMBER ALL THESES "BROKERS" TRYING TO SIGN YOU UP ARE PAID BY INSURANCE COMPANIES FOR EACH... Read More

WellCare is an absolute nightmare. My 75 year old mother had perfectly good insurance. Medicare A & B and a secondary from my Father called Champ VA. Last year she was contacted on the phone and bullied into WellCare as a "supplemental Insurance". Well let me tell you, it is anything but. She has been denied coverage by almost every one of her practitioners as well as leaving me, her daughter to provide the funds for prescription overages. I am OUTRAGED that this took the place of her Medicare plan. She did not need any insurance other than what she had. We paid for nothing out of pocket and now I am sitting on hundreds of dollars in bills that she cannot afford and I am not... Read More

I'm angry and disgusted with this company, and the complete lack of knowledge and assistance by the employees that answer the phone. Our dear Mom passed 12-18-21; we and SS / Medicare notified Wellcare of the death. Wellcare took the $69 plus premium 12-20-21, two days after Mom passed. This is Insurance Fraud. Wellcare can't take a premium on a deceased person. I've called at least 4 times; I submitted the POA, the death certificate, and the Representative form they asked for and wrote a letter of grievance. It's now March 10, and I received a rejection letter from the grievance department, along with the same paper to submit yet again. They want a Letter of Appointment of Executor, but... Read More

This company does not post payments in a timely manner. I was told that it takes two weeks to receive a payment and another three days to post. As of today, a payment mailed on February 10th has not posted. This payment was sent by New York State Epic plan to help lower my premium. The two checks thatI sent each took more than two weeks to post. Even after they posted an off shore representative called to tell me that my plan would be canceled as it was in arrears. The off shore representatives barely speak English. When I called today, it took more than 30 minutes to be transferred to someone in this country.

avoid - WellCare is owned by Centene Corp which has been sued multiple times in the last several years for selling junk insurance and defrauding states of Medicaid and Medicare funds by not honoring policies written. (Google it. Stay away.) I am seriously upset and frustrated with Illinois Wellcare Assist HMO. I NEED HELP. First, they are incapable of understanding the seriousness of my issue. Which I will brief below. I have bilateral trigeminal neuralgia. https://www.aans.org/Patients/Neurosurgical-Conditions-and-Treatments/Trigeminal-Neuralgia You can google much about the illness, it will all tell you it is the worst pain known to humanity. Like other reviewers, would leave no stars if I could. The phrase "customer service" is an oxymoron.....there is NO service. Be prepared to spend hours on the phone waiting for a live person; when you finally get to a person be prepared to spend much of it on hold; be prepared to chat with someone who speaks poor English, doesn't care and/or understand what your problem is, and does nothing to solve it. If you have the stamina to make more than one phone call, be prepared to go through your story in it's entirety again......and again. Their drug coverage is a joke. Many drugs can be obtained far cheaper from GoodRx......in which case, why are we required to have Medicare drug... Read More

Terrible company to be associate with. Website is totally worthless. Will not look up providers or price drugs. Some drugs not even searchable and I should know because I’m a pharmacist. I will never sign up for this company again. What rating should I give? Since no stars is not an option I’ll give it one half star.

I have had Wellcare health insurance for six months, and I will spend every day of this month desperately seeking another health insurance company. My every interaction with WC has been flat-out dreadful. Their system is WAY too complicated to navigate. There have very few doctors in my town that want to mess with them. (This I learned the hard way. ) The agent lied about this to me to get me to sign up. Also lied about needing referrals. (Good luck trying to figure out the referral system because it makes no sense.) I asked for a case manager and was ignored. The phone lines are a descent into hell. Their phone representatives know little about the system. The only dentist and eye... Read More

The WORST coverage; just read ALL the BAD reviews! Very few doctors accept it, and the ones that do, usually have bad reviews, also! They will talk to you very nice, and waste hours, but with very little results!

Good luck getting any help from Wellcare on your Part D medications coverage plan. Your call is directed to an offshore helpdesk with poor English skills, poor training, and no end-to-end follow through. This has been my consistent experience with this outfit.

My Wellcare Medicare part D drug plan for 2021 has been discontinued a the recommended similar replacement policy is triple the premium. I asked why do much and was told, "well, things do go up." I tried to look at their less expensive plans only to find that each cheaper plan has a higher deductible and a different drug formulary which puts each of my prescriptions in a higher tier resulting in a much higher copay resulting in similar annual out of pocket costs! For the same plan my annual premium was $240 in 2020, $304 in 2021 and will be $828 in 2022. This does not include the cost of the drugs and since my wife has the same insurance these costs are doubled for our family.

I am a mental health provider. I no longer accept WellCare insurance because they make absolutely everything as difficult as possible - both for me and for my patients. I have never had more trouble with an insurance company, and that is saying a lot. I strongly advise consumers against buying WellCare insurance, no matter how promising their sales pitch sounds.
