The worst insurance I have ever dealt with. It is a conflict of interest to have them running their own medical centers and pharmacies. There is no incentive for the pharmacy to be friendly or work with the patient - you can't go anywhere else. The transition team got most of the dosages wrong (entering higher doseages than I was currently taking). I can't see my new prescriptions online. When I called and got upset because it's always a battle to get it filled, the pharmacy hung up on me and wouldn't answer my call until the 4th try. I couldn't fill the prescription without calling so I had to keep trying. Also, I am paying more for my prescriptions than I am saving by going with... Read More

Do not select Kaiser Permanente if you need a Specialist or procedure. I have been trying to get an appointment for an colonoscopy and endoscopy ordered by my doctor to no avail. They do not have any appts through November. This is unacceptable . If they do not have enough Dr's they should refer outside plan.

This is the absolute health organization in the history of modern medicine. Try reaching your physician or specialist directly. good luck every call goes directly to the main directory where you will sit on hold for an average of 45 minutes. The pharmacy is a total shit show, they literally can't do simple math, which is what the entire job entails counting pills. I can't tell you how many times I was admitted to the emergency room because some bimbo from the pharmacy could not distinguish 28 days in February and 30 days in March and come to the conclusion that a 28 day refill wouldn't make it till the end of the following month. Fucking idiots. The worst medical professionals in all... Read More

On paper Kaiser may look good, but dealing with them is another story. Many of their doctors have poor medical skills or knowledge, hard to tell sometimes. And nearly all go by "guidelines" which work for some people, but far from all. But you have to do arm twisting to get them to treat you as an individual. Appointments for a basic primary car Dr are running 3-4 weeks out. That's assuming you don't have a cough or cold or anything that might be a possible symptom of Covid, in which case you can't make an appt. So, send a PM to your doc since you can't see them? Maybe, probably not. They now have medical assistants answering them who in reality have less medical knowledge than a... Read More

In march 2023 I had a thumb surgery in my right hand because of arthritis and in April I still had severe pain and after I did a stat c ray when I saw the doctor he told me that I have done something like lifting something like a plate and had damaged the grafted tendons and internal brace has been torn I accepted the doctors explanation and he told me you need another surgery to fix this and I agreed In these conditions most women say it’s the doctors fault and they go on f….cing google to put a review against the doctor and this is sort of a hobby for women I accepted the doctors words and told him if you say I have to cut off my arm to fix the problem I will do it but I will not on... Kaiser Medicare health plan is a natural transition for the over 65 members. However it is NOT accepted overseas even in emergencies! My Chinese wife visited her family in China and made sure all of her local cancer tests and visits were completed a few says before departing. She had a follow-up with cancer specialists in China and found cancer had spread to her spinal column but undetected here in Oregon. The advanced medical treatment was available and subsequently treated successfully in Shanghai and she will be returning soon. China is MORE advanced than Kaiser USA apparently and Kaser claims a FIVE star rating when it was only a one star in this case!

You pay everything up front and Kaiser keeps charging you. You call to ask why and they don’t help. They add exams that didn’t happen and charge you for that. I called to get help and they hung up the phone instead of assisting. They will rob your money on every corner so good luck to any future customer.

My husband and I chose to switch our healthcare to KP this past year due to the rating of the company however, our experience has not been as successful as those ratings indicated. We are in Oregon and it is difficult to get seen by a specialist locally without significant delays and many phone calls. We will be reverting back to United Healthcare once this year is complete. The entire healthcare industry is in a sad state these days but KP's decline has been dramatic.

General care (if your healthy) is better than average - Mental Health Care and Therapy support is severely lacking. Pros : Generally our family is young and relatively physically healthy. The preventative maintenance and systems to notify us to make appointments, schedule immunizations, and well care visits have been very easy. We have had a couple ER visits and eye surgery in which we were treated well, promptly attended to, and felt like partners in our healthcare management. Cons: Their in-house Mental Health Services lacks continuity and stability of care. For starters, the department is often in "triage" mode. A person has to be an. imminent danger to themselves/others to... Read More

Our 4 month old grandchild had serious cranial surgery yesterday at Kaiser in Los Angeles. The family was all there in the waiting area. After it was over, it looked like the entire surgical team came to meet us in the waiting area. You could tell by the looks on their faces that all went well! They told us it could not have gone better! What a relief! What a team! We were so relieved! God is good and these doctors are so blessed!

I've been with Kaiser since the 1970s and today's Kaiser bears no resemblance to the original Kaiser. Other than your primary care MD, appointments are absurdly hard to get. Two to four months is typical. Kaiser needs a complete shakeup of upper management. I will be leaving at the next open enrollment period.

Kaiser just updated their communication system and it's been a complete nightmare. You can't communicate with your doctor like you used to, records are being lost and the staff seems extremely confused in executing the simplest of tasks. In the past few months, something has else has occurred (besides the comm system change). It's extremely difficult to get an appointment, lines are incredibly long and staff is extremely irritable. It feels like some high paid executives decided to make changes and have no idea how to run the ship. Do not sign on to this insurance unless you absolutely have to.

As of 1/1/22, we switched to Kaiser. We can see none of our doctors, kid’s meds were changed to generic without warning. She experienced major side effects and we now pay out of pocket for her original meds. I’ve spent in excess of 7 hours on the phone since February trying to schedule an eye surgery. Ive had the same surgery done on the other eye through Aetna. I know how this should all transpire. I’ve seen a really nice doctor for 15 minutes, was told that I’d be contacted in 2-4 weeks to schedule pre op, surgery and post op appointments. I waited 5 weeks before calling because I don’t want to nag. It’s officially been 8 weeks. I’m told weekly when I call that I’ll be contacted but... Read More

The white receptionist refused me from doing my routine labs prior my meeting with my PCP, saying labs are by appointments ONLY. I had the email from my PCP stating appointment not required but she refused to read. My PCP told me that routine annual labs are free, but I am billed for the routine annual lab and every effort to explain to agents on kp chats ain't giving a damn. My PCP refused to see me in-person, but I think that as a new patient, seeing me for the 1st time means she will get to know me then subsequent meetings virtually may make sense, but she was bent on meeting me only virtually - to me this is lack of empathy. I ain't gonna renew it - never ever.

I am a teacher most of my paycheck went to Kaiser. I thought they would take care of my husband. He went many times to many doctors they all said he was fine. They did no testing they brushed us off. The only thing they cared about was getting paid. On Aug 31st, 2021 my husband of 30 years died of quadruple endocarditis. The cardiac surgeon diagnosed it in 30 seconds with one symptom. Night sweats. It was a slow-moving bacteria that if caught in time may have been treatable it ate his heart valves. I went to have a conversation at Kaiser and was told "we are so sorry for your loss but we aren't going to change anything." If they had tried to save him and failed I would have understood.... I am a first time Kaiser member and all I needed help was to get a Member Card so I know my Member ID, which I need to make appointments, I called 4 different numbers that they have online and my first call was horrible, the guy literally hung up on me, the second time was answered but they redirected me to another number that did not work so it hung up on me again, the third time, a lady answered and just hung up on me, fourth time, yes you guessed it right, hung up on me again, so as you can see, Kaiser is the worst hospital to ever be a member in, I'm hoping Kaiser will fix these issues since they are a big company, they get millions of money from Tax payers and has the worst service... Nurses and staffing directors are striking in support of the Kaiser engineers, while neglecting patient care and still getting paid. Why can't people just do their job, be grateful for their jobs and quit complaining when they are so blessed. This greed has to stop. Life is challenging for everyone one, and there is no reason to spend time purposefully making it worse because you want more for free.

I had a Kaiser gastroenterologist set up Sunday appointments for me when he was promoted to director of the hospital. One time he thought of a question and ran down to x-ray to ask the radiologist and ran back. When there was a shortage of livers in L. A. Kaiser sent me to the Mayo clinic in Florida for a transplant.

The actual doctors and nurses are good, but they are nearly inaccessible. Getting an appointment for anything takes months and getting anyone to respond to a basic message takes forever. Kaiser Permanente should be avoided until they have adequate staffing levels.

Leaving Kaiser Medicare Advantage after a few months of frustration. Much the same as others have expressed. Hard to communicate (Maryland). Hospital has to route all calls and does not answer the phone. Call back does not work. No direct lines. Would not cover second opinion for possible pacemaker. Minor surgery turned into minor assault. (The procedure seemed to be 3 times that necessary but have not been able to get the pathology slides for independent analysis.) Wanted to treat high blood pressure on basis of 2 office readings when outside readings show borderline to low blood pressure. Cannot get another dermatology appointment before leaving, probably a backhanded plus.

I only have Kaiser Permanente dental insurance because it is cheap. And that's what you get: Cheap care and long wait times.

Had shoulder surgery and KP scheduled my appointments with 2 separate physical therapists. I was charged for an evaluation by each PT and when I disputed the charge, I was denied. I was told, "the PT completed the evaluation so the charge was valid." If I would have known I would be charged for 2 separate evaluations, I would have skipped the first. BTW, the evaluations were 2 business days apart.

I enrolled in Kaiser Medicare Advantage in Feb 2020. I was told to come for a baseline physical with $0 copay. After the physical, I was billed for $10 copay. After my first visit to the Optometrist which EOC says has a $10 copay, which I paid, I was billed for an additional $30. Again I had a preventative colonoscopy which EOC says has $0 copay but I was billed for $40 after the procedure. When I called to dispute the charge, the member service rep threatened to hang up on me and refused to transfer me to supervisor. She offered to waive to copay as a one-time courtesy and not because they were wrong. Right now I am even scared to go for services because of the hassle of dealing with the... Read More

If you want care, competent staff, real follow-up with your physician, Kaiser is not the place. Impossible to speak with your physician. HOURS of wait to speak with call center staff when issue is more urgent than leaving an on-line message. The decline in access to care has been dramatic over the last few years.

Sprawling, tangled bureaucracy that seems to be spending all its money creating non-communicating departments that prevent rather than extend care. For something as simple as establishing my contact number, Kaiser seems to think that a 10-year-old CA phone number is the default on, no matter how many times I called to change it. Finally it seems to be fixed. Long wait times to get basic appointments, torturous hard-to-navigate personal log-in that, again, seems dedicating to confusing clients rather than enlightening them and getting the care they need. A "personal" doctor that cannot be bothered to inquire or answer the most basic questions-- her last response was "that is not my... Read More
