Overall Rating: 5 / 5 (Excellent)

Volusion offers pretty much everything an online merchant could want from an eCommerce provider. Its drag-and-drop website builder and beautiful templates make design a breeze. Just as important, the process of uploading products into the store is fairly fast and easy as well. It also provides plenty of marketing support with newsletters, enabling product ratings and reviews, eBay and Amazon integration, and its own Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.

Unlike many other eCommerce providers, Volusion does not charge transaction fees. However, it does charge extra for some features that other providers don't. For example, Volusion will charge overage fees if you use more bandwidth than what is allowed in your plan. Volusion's explanation is that this proves to be more economical than a transaction-fee based model, as bandwidth usage can be kept down by the administrator. (They measure bandwidth as all data transfers exiting the website.) They do say that they will provide a fixed-fee option for merchants who request it, however, those customized options are available only upon request. It's also worth noting that they charge $89 extra for an SSL Certificate, something that a retailer must have if they want to allow customers to pay by credit card.

On the other hand, it's not every day that a tech company gets rave reviews over their customer support, and Volusion does. Customers consistently praise their 24/7, Austin, TX-based support, saying that they will go above and beyond in helping and will stay on the phone until the problem is solved. Overall, what Volusion offers is much more than the drawbacks of extra fees. Superior customer service, easy-to-use website building, excellent marketing tools, and beautiful templates make it a top-notch choice among eCommerce providers.
