Pressing the SOS emergency button on the back of the phone triggers a three-part reaction that could save a senior's life. First, it sounds an alarm to alert those around the senior. Second, it sends an emergency text to up to five contacts. Finally, it calls each of these contacts and automatically turns on the speakerphone. The company's additional 24/7 monitoring feature is another strength, since it allows an emergency responder to access the senior's medical information and emergency contacts during an incident and even lets the responder conference in 911 responders or family members until the situation is over. The company offers a 30-day no-risk guarantee on the product as well and a handset replacement plan for two replacements in a 12-month period if the consumer signs up with one of their service plans.

The Snapfon's most distinctive feature is an emergency SOS button on the back of the phone, which, when pressed for three to five seconds, immediately does three things: it sounds an alarm to alert those around the owner, it sends an emergency SOS text to up to five predetermined contacts, and it calls those contacts and switches to speakerphone so the owner doesn't have to worry about having the phone in their hands during an emergency. The phone also allows for up to eight speed dial contacts and is hearing aid compatible. Snapfon can connect to hearing aids, cars, and headphones using a Bluetooth feature, but also includes traditional wired headset functionality. The consumer can either register a new number when buying the Snapfon or can transfer an existing phone number. A great optional feature for those looking for 24/7 monitoring is Snapfon's sosPlus mobile monitoring service. In case of emergency, Snapfon connects the consumer with an emergency response agent who has access to the consumer's medical information and emergency contacts using the consumer's profile. The response agent can dispatch emergency services and alert family members. These response agents will stay with the consumer on the phone until the situation is taken care of. The Snapfon also includes an LED flashlight, a speaking keypad (for the visually impaired) and a keypad lock-switch on the side of the phone.

Snapfon comes with an SOS Button. When held three to five seconds, it sounds a 120-decibel siren to notify people nearby, and it also texts and calls up to five contacts you have selected. Once someone answers, it automatically switches to speakerphone to make it easier for the owner to talk to the emergency contact or responder. Snapfon also offers a 24/7 mobile monitoring service called SOSPlus Mobile for an extra $15 a month. If the consumer buys the monitoring, the phone comes with the preset contacts., Otherwise, the consumer must set them up him- or herself.

The Snapfon flip is a piece of junk. Be careful in putting in the sim card. The little door snaps out and breaks the plastic part that holds it.

I have one and have had for several years. Although some of the features are at first difficult to use, for the most part the phone is far easier to utilize than the fancier smart phones with a farlarger number of features. I recommend it for all seniors. I'm 83 by the way.
