AuraGlow is a Connecticut-based oral cosmetic company that specializes in teeth whitening at home and on the go. It offers a variety of products ranging from full teeth whitening kits to custom trays and whitening pens. All products are made in the United States and ship nationwide.

Ingredients

AuraGlow's whitening products use a carbamide peroxide gel. Carbamide peroxide is one of the most commonly used teeth whitening agents because it's proven to be safe and effective. The Deluxe Home Teeth Whitening System uses a 35% carbamide peroxide solution, but there's also a 44% solution for those who want more rapid results. It's rare to see a solution greater than 35% carbamide peroxide outside of a dentist's office and it's possible that this high concentration could cause temporary teeth sensitivity, especially in those who already have sensitive teeth.

The whitening system also includes a one-size-fits-all LED light tray, which the manufacturer claims speeds up your results. Some question whether or not this actually works, but there doesn't appear to be any harm in using the light tray. If you prefer, you can purchase separate moldable mouth trays from the company that can fit the exact shape of your mouth. This will help the trays stay in place better and may deliver better results.

Effectiveness

Carbamide peroxide solutions are known to be effective at whitening teeth, and the AuraGlow product reviews back up these claims. Most customers report noticeable results within a few treatments. Despite the high concentrations of carbamide peroxide, few reported issues with teeth or gum sensitivity after using the product. But if you know you have sensitive teeth, you're probably better off sticking with the 35% solution rather than the 44% solution, even if it means waiting a little longer to see results.

Ease of Use

The AuraGlow teeth whitening kit works in a similar manner to many of its competitors. You attach the LED light to the mouth trays, fill the trays with gel and then place them in your mouth. The company recommends wearing the trays for 30 minutes per day, which is longer than the wear time for many similar products. This may help you see results more quickly, but it can also be cumbersome for those who don't have a lot of time to devote to teeth whitening. AuraGlow recommends using the product for seven to 14 days at a time. If you experience sensitivity, it's best to take a couple days off before continuing with the whitening treatment.

The company's whitening pen is also simple to use. You just twist up the pen and apply it to your teeth. This is meant for touch ups and not as a replacement for the full whitening kit. Because the whitening agent in the whitening pen spends less time in contact with your teeth, it cannot deliver results as quickly.

Price

The AuraGlow teeth whitening kit is relatively affordable compared to many of its competitors and should fit comfortably into most people's budgets. If you don't want to purchase the kit itself, you can purchase some of its components separately, though this will cost you considerably more.

Refills are a little pricey, especially if you go with the 44% carbamide peroxide solution, so it may not be your most affordable option if you intend to whiten your teeth often. Each refill pack includes three syringes of gel, which gives you 30 teeth whitening treatments. If you're serious about using the whitening kit, consider purchasing a refill subscription. You'll receive a 25% discount on future refills and the company will send refills to your door every month so you don't have to remember to reorder yourself.
