I'm a 66-year-old senior living in a tight economy situation. I saw the trial of Resume Genius and I gave my cc information to pay 3 dollars for a 14-day subscription that will end on 4/23/2024. On Monday 04/22/2024 I called to cancel the subscription to avoid being charged $ 23.95. The person who attended me told me that everything was cancelled and that I will receive an email from them. Email never showed up but on 04/24/24 a charge of $ 23.95 was posted in my debit card. Try to explain them my case and get a refund but they refuse to do it. THEN BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THESE THIEVES!
The site lists everything as free which is what I searched was" FREE resume creater." Once you are half an hour into building your resume yourself with little to no help outside of some formatting assistance I could have gotten from a free app or word, which would have atleast spell checked it for me, they take your work and time,,,slap it onto some ugly formats, and require payment in order to return your work to you with no free option at all, just a money back guarantee and a subsciption you purchase that you can canncel anytime. There is nothing free, a few days or even hours, all of it costs beginning at 3 and up.... I'll gladly pay a site that charges, but not some corrupt company... Read More
Avoid at all costs. Take as much money as possible and then screw you for the resume.
I totally agree with the reviews, I made the mistake of creating an account doing up a resume and letting them charge me $2.95 then I was to the understanding it was for a 14-day trial period I thought after the 14 days were up it was done. Oh no! ResumeGenius charges you for one month then they notify you after the fact. What a SCAM!!! Just skip right over the site, my teenage daughter helped me build a better resume.
This is a terrible, shady, dishonest company. DO NOT USE.

This business advertises free resumes and then once you've spent hours filling in the info they decide to make you pay for it. So no, it's not free. They expect you to pay for it because of all the work you put in. If you do find this comment and have done all the work. Just go to resume.com and copy-paste everything you've done. Resume Genius is a scam and the people who run it should be ashamed.
They are such a bait and switch company, hoping that you will forget to cancel so they can charge you $40.
How is is possible that this company has a 4.8 star review from consumersadvocate.org and I cannot find one review that is good. It appears that the same complaint is stated over and over again. Word of warning. During the 14 day trial make sure you cancel by going on their website, by calling them and then do it again to make sure the actual account is cancelled or else they will state that you did not do it. Call you a liar and suggest you keep using the service you wanted to cancel in the first place and offer no resolution.

This information is old and inaccurate now. The want $39.95 a month and the service is really almost worthless.
Buyer beware! They hide their fees until you've spent a ton of time on the site. They then sucker you into paying a fee to access the work you've done and then hit you with a $94.50 recurring renewal fee and refuse to refund your money! They are the worst of the worst kind of bait and switch renewal scam. Don't use them!!

Abusive fine print, indifferent customer service with a harsh no-refund policy. Make sure to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau; I got my refund when BBB entered the arena.
Buyer BEWARE! I had the same experience and many of the other reviews. They stole $120 after I signed up for the free trial, talked with several support staff and then a manager and they told me they "Have very strict no refund policy." Will never be trusting this company again. Dishonest people work here!
I have a GED that I am very proud to have achieved. But the resumegenius just can't figure out how to enter that. They say in their site it only takes 6 seconds to look at a resume. So they want me to just put in some useless info and then edit it later. Well I'll go somewhere else, some genius.
Be very careful when using this website, they give you a long trial period (in hopes that you will forget you even made the account in the first place) then will start charging you $40 to renew in stealth. They will not send you any receipts or give you any notifications that you have renewed a membership and if you aren't constantly on top of your bank statements it is very easy to miss this payment. Terrible customer service CONSTANTLY talked over me and would not let me speak or explain things also was very condescending, will continue to charge account AFTER cancellation, go as far as to say that you never cancelled in the first place. On top of that the formatting of the resumes are awful, you would be better off using a word template. Be careful spending money here, you may need the resume for a job but you would be better off in both financial and professional situations using a template from word. Resume Genius will request 1.99 or 3.99 or whatever to download a template, then charge you 94.00. I cannot get through to anyone via phone or email. This is a scam and completely unethical.
This website's tactics are predatory at best. Advertised as a free resume, I began filling out my information. When you were supposed to actually download the resume, suddenly it was $1.95 to download. Okay. I get it.
What they don't tell you is the $40 recurring charge on your bank statement without any receipt or email from the company. We called to dispute the charges and they said they had a strict no refunds policy. This company is terrible and the customer service is even worse. DO. NOT. USE.
If I could give this site no stars I absolutely would. Does is make decent resumes? Of course, I used this site in a hurry to create a resume because I do not have word easily available. I signed up for the 14-day trial just to be able to PRINT the resume I just created. ONE RESUME. With no warning, my account was charged $40! I have proof from my bank statements and they are willing to do absolutely nothing to help. If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I was looking at my account and realized that They were going to bill my account and so I looked at my bank account to make sure I had not yet been billed and I had not. So I went to my account to cancel because I have other important bills I need to pay. I noticed today that they had billed my account anyways. I called them and the lady on the phone was super unhelpful. She told me they could not give me a refund because I canceled 20 minutes after I was billed, which they had no proof of nor did they show me proof. This company's website misleadingly advertises a free resume building service. However, after you've spent considerable time and effort using their service, you have to pay $1.95to retrieve the completed document. It says free everywhere on their site until you try to download. It's a bait and switch tactic that job seekers don't have time for. if you do pay for a 2 week trial, you will be billed endlessly according to other reviews. No idea how they have such high ratings when all their reviews are so dissatisfied.
These people will not even remind you that your free trial is ending and just start charging you without sending an email once. Got billed 2 months because the first month was covered by other expenses I made so I missed it. They would not even refund the 2nd month at least when I went to cancel only 3 days after the purchase. I would not recommend these guys as honestly you can make the same kind of resume on your own. It just a stupid template not even worth signing to use for a free trial.
Be careful- they will bill you and NEVER send a receipt- this is an obvious tactic to hope it goes unnoticed. Unconscionable.
