Petsecure is a leading provider of pet insurance services in Canada, offering pet owners four levels of pet insurance coverage. The company was started in 1989 and is 100 percent Canadian-owned and operated. Petsecure reimburses up to 80% for treatments and veterinary services. It offers protection for dogs and cats of any age or breed and offers multi-pet discounts.

Cancellation policy

NOooo! It is a scam! The worst decision I made for almost 20 years. They let me down when I needed them the most. Open a saving account and deposit the(ir) monthly fees, you will do better when you need it.

I am extremely disappointed with Pet Secure. The website advertises all sorts of coverage but after consistently paying 126$ a month, we have had no success in covering even a penny of annual check ups, medications etc. When asking for clarification they are quite rude and indigent. I have had an overall terrible experience. Massive waste of money.

I wish i would have read the reviews before. Do NOT use this company ever!!! After paying them for 2 years, my dog had an accident and required a knee surgery and denied my claim. Now I'm out of pocket $6500 . They will find a fraudulent way or excuses not to pay.

Do not use this company ! They randomly add exclusions after initial health exam at their will. Then they don’t tell you about these exclusions even when you call following the waiting period to see the outcome of health exam and waiting period and coverages. Then when your pet gets sick the claim gets denied ! At your hour of need with no apology for not telling you about the exclusion they slapped on after they take your first payment . Not OK

NOT THE BEST INSURANCE COMPANY OUT THERE. THEY TEND TO RAISE RATES AND REDUCE COVERAGE AFTER 8 YRS OLD FOR DOGS. ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO DISCUSS ON PHONE OR EMAIL. DO YOUR HOMEWORK WITH THIS COMPANY - THERE ARE BETTER PLACES TO GET PET INSURANCE.

I would recommend to AVOID this company like the plague!! We chose to go with them when our dog was a puppy. When he turned 6 we upgraded him to Secure 4 because of his age and the benefits. Everything is fine with this company until you have a claim. We always payed the deductible and never got any reimbursement as our dog was young and in good health. This summer he has had some issues and now we see what kind of company they are!! They will find any clause to not pay out. I have been with Petsecure for over 15years … I just wish that they took me being away in hospital and then in another hospital in another city seriously as I was put through Status Epilepticus then a Coma unknown time, in 2014. Yet This seriousness was taken lightly by the Insurance because I live with Epilepsy. Too many people around me are taking advantage of my living with disabilities as is. wish I had read all the reviews so that I could save my money. I purchased petsecure insurance and submitted the only medical record I have at that time. They keep asking for more medical records even I did not file a claim at all. They said that the medical record is incomplete but they continue to charge me monthly. They just saying you are covered but we won’t process any claim because the medical record is incomplete. What a joke. When people talk about why insurance companies have a bad rap, it is because of companies like Petsecure and Petline Insurance Company. Please DO NOT give them your business. They will find some shady way of finding a way to deny your claim. Very disappointing. This is NOT an attack on the customer service reps who are just answering the call BUT against the adjustors. So many flaws with this Insurance company, it's hard to know where to begin. GO WITH TRUPANION! If you do not take out the best Pet Secure Program #4, you are wasting your money. If any other plan, they will only do one knee or one shoulder or one leg/year. Your dog will have to wait until the next year to have the other one done if it fails or you will have to pay in full. For three years everything was rosy, I had taken the Secure 4 package for a boxer puppy in January 2015. He had a few problems with his health which were always covered and I thought things would continue to be covered as I was promised when I was researching insurance companies. DON'T GET SUCKED IN! They have a clause that allows them to exclude a pet for any condition at any time. When I adopteded my cat in July 2021 he came with a trial for petsecure. He had been found as a stray and had to be neutered, chipped and have his top canines removed because they were broken and an infected cut on his legs, so lots of antibiotics and he had diarrhea. Have been waiting almost 2 months to get any kind of reimbursement ..or a person to return a call or a response from a weeks worth of emails sent begging for information!!!! POOR customer care !!!! They are eager to take you on as clients BUT do not live up to repaying on the plan as set up for our family pet as we put our trust in YOUR hands to help us in critical situations!!!!

My experience with Petsecure Canada’s Pet Insurance/Petline Insurance has been a very stressful and unpleasant experience. I adopted a cat and received a 6 week free trial insurance coverage. Within a week the cat had hurt her leg and had to go to emergency. At emergency, they discovered her temperature was too high. She need pain medication, fluids and appetite help. Over the next six weeks I called the Insurance Company, spoke to 6 different people and basically got the run around. Had a terrible experience with this insurance company. Claims take 6 weeks to process, and when you are notified of a received claim, it doesn't indicate where it's from and what they were for so its difficult to cross check on which of your claims have been processed vs. which are still pending until after you receive the processed claim. Even then, sometimes claims are lumped together so it's difficult. It's not clear how the deductibles are calculated, and I was charged twice for the same condition because apparently extending my trial coverage into full coverage still counts as a new policy. Most like other people i had the same experience. I wish i had read the reviews as well before proceeding with them. I am not sure how this company has made into top 5 best pet insurance list. The claims take too long to be processed. I emailed twice for an update but nobody got back to me. I had to call and the person said it should be by next week which means around 5 weeks time frame. My claim was submitted on May 27 and they said they are working on May 26 claims. It turns out that my claim is no pay out as my deductible wasn’t met annually. I have paid for insurance for my dog since she was a pup with very few claims and now that she is 12 1/2 years old I have nothing but trouble from this company: it takes 6 weeks for claim processing; they claim to have not received paperwork even though I have email confirmation that my submission was received; it is not possible to speak with a supervisor in order to deal with issues promptly; they say they know that they need more staff to deal with claims efficiently yet the same long wait times persist. The customer service is atrocious! My rating is 0. No star.

Thank goodness I read all the reviews. I will definitely not be going with any of the pet insurance scams . I will take the advice and just put the money in a savings account every month. They didn't have great customer service anyway and seemed grumpy when I asked to call back after looking around as I wanted to compare. Now they don't answer anyway. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories. I hope things go better in the future you saved me from a bad mistake.

Worst customer service ever. CS representative need to learn basic phone call manner before they start work. Condescending and pompous attitude is not appropriate for anyone and they don't know about that. If you want to ruin your day with brain damaged jerk? go ahead.
