BEWARE OF SAFEWAY MOVING COMPANY I have moved 5 times with professional movers. I have never had my property treated with such disrespect and carelessness as I did with Safeway. Items are missing, furniture broken in two, furniture was scratched, dented, gouged, and broken. Safeway employees had no regard for my personal property, they threw items, lost & broke parts off of my gas grill, smashed boxes, broke furniture, scratched furniture, gouged furniture and tied 3 mattresses and box springs on the back of the semi truck which traveled from WA to AZ in road debris, rain, and snow! How this company got so many stars, is beyond me! A totally bad experience all around. First, the price quoted will be higher, much higher. But that to be expected, because you wont get everything you want to carry counted, and you'll add stuff you didnt you would. What they done tell you though is, you see all those clothes and linen that you have in duffel bags, that the original rep says is ok? Well it isnt! Everything has to be in cardboard boxes, so that will be extra. A lot extra! Do not use Safeway moving systems!!!! We used them to move from NY to FL and although they gave the lowest firm estimate, we ended up paying twice what they quoted. I expected to pay more than the quote, which was around $10k and the final bill was over $20k! I sent them over 50 photos of what we were planning on packing and moving so there would be no surprises. They came with a small truck with supplies that were inadequate for the packing, loaded some of the shipment and then returned with anon-full sized truck and of course were unable to fit the load. I feel like I was tricked into signing on with Safeway movers. I paid much more than I was supposed to pay when I agreed to the initial contract. Close to the move date, I had a phone conversation with Safeway and received an updated estimate that was 40% higher than the original with multiple "new" fees (fuel surcharge, elevator, and supplies). They took a month of my life as I tried to chase down my items, and they delivered my items but much of it was either stolen or broken. I strongly recommend against signing with Safeway.
First let me say I do not recommend Safeway. This review is based on a move in June/July 2023. I am aware that they are brokers not movers; meaning they only connect you with a moving company who then picks up and delivers your furniture. However, as a broker (and a company I paid over $1400 to) I did expect them to serve as my contact to take care of problems that are brought to their attention. To be fair they do supply you with a contact person, with personal phone number, who is identified as a company representative. First, in my experience, Safeway was not the mover that showed up at my house. They subcontracted a local mover to move our furniture. The subcontracter did a satisfactory job. Second, the very first phone inquiry I made to Safeway, I was expected to give a complete and accurate list of all the items to be moved. I was nit prepared for that, so I rattled off everything I could think of off the top of my head. I received a quote for the job and was verbally promised the price would not be over the quote. I would not use this company again. My belongings were damaged and I didn't get some of the boxes I packed. They told me the truck had four other stops and the driver told me he had 14 stops. The communication is terrible between the company and the moving services, I was stuck in the middle. They might have been a good moving company at one time, but they have lost their quality of service. I would not recommend using this company.
The worst company I've had the displeasure of dealing with we are going on now 3 weeks since they picked up my 80 year old parents furniture promised them 3 to 4 days to have it delivered, my parents came on the 5th day just to make sure that they weren't waiting on their furniture only to be told "we're sorry they missed the delivery date, no one was here" which was incorrect my husband was waiting for them no one called after 15 attempts to contact someone finally got a hold of customer service and was told that it was in transit it was in Chicago it would be there the next day the next day came no one showed up tried calling back again They said oh it was delivered, oh no it's in... Safeway Moving is a terrible company that engages in fraudulent and destructive business practices.
They completely ruined my move--they overcharged me (compared to what they quoted), damaged my belongings (thousands of dollars of damage), did not deliver my belongings on the right day, and gave me someone else's belongings. They have done nothing to remedy all of the problems that they caused.
If I could give zero (or even negative stars), I would.

Do NOt hire Safeway Moving Systems, they are a "broker"not a mover! 10/14/22 I hired Safeway Moving System and they "contracted" NW Relocation to pick up my furniture and boxes in Happy Valley Oregon on 10/22/22. My belongings were dropped off in Pleasanton CA on 11/12/22. This company, NW Relocation, lost the following: 5-boxes with my most expensive dress clothes, light weight back packing gear: pack, down sleeping bag, camping gear, computer power back up and desk lamp, a life time of photos and momentos from the past 50 years, brand new king sized sheets, rolling tool chest with drills and other expensive tools, marble table top and they also lost a second table. Very disappointed- Safeway mislead me by stating that delivery would occur within 15 days and a maximum of 21 days. The moving company they handed me off to clarified that their guarantee is 21 business days which is a significant jump from what I was told. It has now been Almost 3 weeks, and the movers still cannot provide me with an expected delivery date. I will not be using Safeway Moving systems again in the future.

Furthermore I did not receive a detailed contract from the actual movers until the day they arrived. Safeway Whatever you do, DO NOT use this company for your move. Our laundry list of issues is seemingly endless. I will preface this by saying that we have relocated cross-country four times now— this was not our first experience with a long haul move; however, it is by far our worst experience. It started with the movers arriving to our house 3 hours late, to then go through every room of our house for AN HOUR to “make sure” our things would fit on the truck… something my husband did over the phone multiple times, one resulting in us having to upgrade to a larger truck (of course at an additional cost). I concur with "jimhughesstuff" absolute extortionists. Ron who did my quote completely misrepresented their business, told me they owned their own trucks and did all their own moves, and now after getting charged 11k more than the initial quote, I can't even get a delivery date from their agent. It just keeps getting worse every time I talk to these jokers. 24000 USD to potentially not have my household belongings for 7 weeks of real time for a "7 to 21 day delivery window".
Utter extortionists. Don't know how they haven't been sued out of business. Run run run away from them! Like others on here, I received a "binding estimate" on a "not to exceed" quote, on a move from CA to WA. I paid my deposit and then was ghosted. My "move coordinator" wouldn't return calls texts or emails, I didn't even know if someone was coming on my move day. They subcontracted with a local mover who showed up and wouldn't load the truck until I payed DOUBLE the "not to exceed" estimate. Classic mover extortion technique. I contracted with Safeway Moving Systems for a cross country move back in March. The move happened in April / May and the actual move itself was done by Indeed Moving out of New Jersey. While everything went fairly smoothly until they picked up the items, once they had my stuff, it quickly went downhill. Not only did they not return calls or communicate, but on the day they finally decided to deliver, I was told 'their big truck couldn't fit down my street (totally not true) and they wanted more money to transfer to smaller truck. My experience with Safeway Moving Systems and specifically Scott Curtis there was shocking. When I realized how he'd scammed me and tried to discuss it on the phone, he hung up and never picked up again. No responses to texts. Nothing. The last two days of my cross country move from Dallas to Los Angeles were done completely in the dark without Safeway responding to calls. What was originally estimated to be a $9k job ballooned up to $24k in the last second. It was just a nightmare. I got an estimate from them and they had terrible costumer service.
First, they gave me an overpriced estimate and decreased the value to half of it when I said I had other offers. The guy was really rude to me in general, pressured me to close the deal, made me uncomfortable, made unnecessary comments about the places I was moving to and judged my moving date choices. I got stressed out even before the moving and would not recommend this company.
Horrible phone customer service. Very rude. I would guess fake good reviews.
I had a terrible experience with Safeway. The only nice part was when there were trying to sell us and succeeded. I would advise you to not go with this company. I cannot understand how they could receive decent reviews from anyone. I contacted the company to give them the opportunity to make it right - there was no response. UGGH
Run fast and far. It would be cheaper and less aggravation to just purchase all new stuff.
During my move, Edward and Peter, were amazing. They arrived 10 minutes early, which was fantastic, and their devotion throughout the procedure was outstanding. Edward office team made me feel extra by paying close attention to my concerns. Everyone contemplating a relocation should consider Safeway Moving. They'll make sure everything goes smoothly and without any anxiety or worry. Safeway Moving IS THE BEST among all moving companies!
Highly recommend these guys for moving, we moved from AZ to KY. Eric and his crew arrived on time, they were extremely courteous and very professional. The movers worked very hard, they had a very long day ahead of them, and they barely sat down. Neal particularly re-assured my mum who was moving house for the first time in 35 years that everything would be fine and to put her feet up and not to stress. That he would do the stressing for her! I was satisfied with the team with the moving crew. They were on time and efficient. I had hired the three-person staff and was very surprised with their work to assist me in packing and moving my furniture in a timely and orderly fashion. Nothing was chipped or broken and was adequately wrapped. I will use them in the future.
Mellor and David moved my roommate and me from MI into TX this past weekend. They were terrific to work with and are very friendly. They offered solutions on how to wrap our couches and pack certain items. They also took apart our beds without us having to ask! I especially appreciate that they don't try to be sneaky and price-gouge. They told us they had a tall wardrobe box for an additional small fee if we wanted to use it but never pressured us to purchase it. The day before our big move, they called to confirm that everything was in place. They arrived at our scheduled time and ended up arriving at our new apartment in no time! I highly recommend their services.
