I used Big Ben on the recommendation of a friend. We are building a new home and had to put our furniture in storage. In April our contract was for $169 per unit (we are using 3 units). They increased the price to $189 in July, a 13% increase. Then in September they said they were requiring all the units to have insurance and charged me $15 per unit per month (outlandishly high price). I purchased renters’ insurance for $10/mo. and they agreed to give me a $45 credit on the next month instead of removing the $45 charge. Then in October they increased the price again to $209 per unit, a $20 increase. That means in six months they have increased the price by almost 25%. Last I looked... Read More
Just don't use Big Ben's. They are are broker. Although Big Ben's advertises itself as professional movers, your experience will largely depend on who they happen to contract out the move to. Like many other complaints here, our move was contracted out to an inexperienced and unprofessional team, resulting in thousands of dollars in damaged property. The "movers" showed up in a rented truck, did not arrive with sufficient packing material (i.e. not even a mattress cover or TV box, even though we gave them an exhaustive inventory list), refused to wear masks inside our home during the height of COVID, and took frequent smoke breaks. Absolutely the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. They retracted the original quote. They took forever to deliver, and then it was some scuzzy guys who delivered and they gave me a bin of someone else's stuff, which they never picked up to return to that customer. The customer service is the worst - absolutely worst. And . . . they lost a box of mine and made no effort to find it nor to pay the insurance claim (far less than the value of the items, which were original art).

Big Bens Moving & Storage is a scam. I was quoted a price, told it was the smallest move, so I could add 40 boxes and the price wouldn't go up. I actually took items off my list. When the driver came, he wanted to charge me 3x the amount. I told him to leave. He went outside & called someone. They conferenced me in. Now it's 2 against 1. I hang up but they had my phone line tied up. I asked them 2x to hang up and call each other back so I could call for help. THEY DIDN'T. Holding me hostage by NOT releasing my phone so I could call for help. They lost my shipment for 2 1/2 weeks. Delivered on day 31 at 9:30pm with 4 people. My boxes came in upside down and squished. Like many others, we had a total nightmare scenario with Big Ben’s during our summer 2020 move. To summarize: On pick-up day they dramatically increased our price and said they would leave if we did not pay the extra amount. After pick-up they became very difficult to contact. When they had held our stuff for over a month without providing any information (in breach of the contract’s delivery terms) we had to get a lawyer involved to negotiate getting our things back. Please be advised that you are still recommending this company and your website still lists them as A+ BBB rated. They presently have an F rating. Please view the recent comments on this company on your website. We, like these recent customers of Big Ben's that have commented, went to your website, did other cross referencing research, and chose Ben Ben's after due diligence. My losses in undelivered and damaged items, as well as overpaying is appropriately $2500-$3000. This is much less than all these other customers commenting on your website!

Worst moving company in America! Stay far, far away! Save yourself the hassle and headache! I promise you will lose sleep and shed tears if you select Big Ben's! Robin is ridiculous, Josh is a joke, Abbey is well (bless her heart), Ray is ok, but seems stuck in the middle of everyone else's incompetence. I STILL DON'T HAVE MY STUFF, but they have my money. The driver/mover even asked me for more money (a tip) because he said they don't pay their employees well! How can they continue to be in business? TERRIBLE TROUBLE - buyer beware - you have been warned!!!!!!!!!
Our neighbors hired this company to move them to CO. They arrived 3 days late with a moving crew that did not even have dollies. They hand walked all their boxes out and once they'd packed up all their stuff in the 2nd truck they demanded they pay twice the amount they were quoted, so the price jumped from $8k to $16k. When they said no way they drove off with all their belongings. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Wow, I cannot say enough bad things about this company. They have promised me at least five times now a call back. No updates ever given on the status of my move, it has been 28 days since they picked up my belongings. On top of that they are charging me more than double the estimate without giving any proof as to why. Do yourself a favor and do not use this company!
Big Ben's is the absolute worst, horrible company I have ever dealt with. Poor phone responses, rental trucks, unprofessional movers, boxes smashed. 75% of all my items destroyed or scratched in some way. Things I paid extra for them to pack just thrown in boxes, one example my computer screen and it was smashed., They make it almost impossible to get any compensation. I beg you STAY AWAY FROM BIG BEN. i HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY STATED THEY HAD A N A+ rating with BBB. Please stay away.. I could go on with negative examples but I will not waste your time. They are getting one star because they will not accept review without a star, but they do not deserve it.
Lies and deceit! This is the best way to describe doing business with "Big Bens". My furniture was picked up on the 15th of June. It was delivered the 11th of August! Very little glass wear survived the trip. I shipped 3 televisions- all were destroyed. I have Valuables that are missing. I have items that are not mine. My items were all filthy. The drivers and help on both ends were contracted- they did not work for Big Bens. I was assured that the same men who loaded my belongings were going to be the ones to unload. Total bs. This company should be ashamed of themselves and how they handle business. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!! They were unprofessional, incredibly late, did not use masks (as they said they would), our original bid was considered "inaccurate" and we were upcharged 67%. I have spent the last hour on the phone trying to get through to customer service and they continue to hang up on me without being put through. Save yourself a headache and go with anyone else!
DISHONEST, UNRELIABLE, and UNFAIR. I urge customers to avoid this company. The movers were 6.5 hours late. The quote provided over the phone, which resulted in a very competitive bid, was determined to be “inaccurate” and the total cost was raised by 67%! $6000 was added from what had been quoted, and I’m pretty much stuck. It’s disgraceful.
I did so much research to choose a moving company by making sure they had good reviews and running background checks. I ended up choosing big bens because of the "good" reviews and I even compromised paying more than other companies we were quoted. I would give 0 stars if possible. I had a horrible experience with Big Ben's Moving and Storage. I booked my move a few months earlier and we gave the dimensions to all of the furniture to the sales representative over the phone. He was very nice and very prompt to answer our questions and doubts. We asked for the premium guaranteed delivery and we were told by him that we shouldn’t buy It because they would certainly deliver on our desired date. The pick up was not smooth. Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible. Poor communication. Wrong information given to me repeatedly, the person moving things, wrong information given to the drivers. When asking for call backs, they only come hit or miss, and it is never the supervisor I've requested or corporate office. Unable to tell me where my goods are. Dirty glove (as opposed to white glove) experience. ** Buyer Beware ** You have been warned.
Horrible experience. Movers scheduled for 4 to 6 pm full service move. Called at 3:49 that they were 2 hours away. Movers showed up after 8 pm with a truck full of other peoples things and unable to clear the loading dock. Even though we asked several times for FaceTime to look at our belongings the sales person Joseph assured us he was correct in his calculations based on years of experience. Movers show up and say we are over by 195 cubic feet. Everything we were told was untrue. Storage is not in temp controlled building but any place they can find to store furniture. The guys from Big Ben's Moving & Storage Service who came to pack did a thorough job, everything clearly labelled and very efficient. At the other end the guys who delivered it were great and even commented that out of all the stuff they had to move from the container mine was the best packed and most clearly marked which made their job easier. Everything was intact and electronics including a 60" OLED all work fine. Only wish I'd added more things like all my tools etc. to the shipping. Very good experience with this company. Two very polite young men showed up on time, took extreme care with all furniture, wrapped matresses and couch in plastic ...all items arrived at the new house in good shape, nothing broken... my daughter waited at new house and had them put living room, bedroom and dining area furniture all in place. When I arrived at the house it already looked like a home. The young men who did the move were quiet industrious, did not waste any time...brought the entire move in at the figure that was quoted. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone contemplating a move.
Excellent moving experience with Big Ben's moving and storage yesterday. Showed up early (15 minutes early) which was unexpected and impressive, given that I was given a time frame of 1-3 pm for their arrival. Everything was handled with excellent care. All my stuff made it from point a to point b in one piece. The movers themselves were extremely profesional, polite and efficient. Break down and set up of furniture was perfect. Overall I would highly recommend them if you are moving within North Carolina because it will make the hectic moving process much easier. Thank you so much! Highly recommend and would use them again next time I move.

PLEASE READ THIS. Ben's Moving and and storage is not a legitimate moving company. They broker every job out to the low cost mover. Have you ever seen a Bens moving and storage truck? Salesman Joe Campbell is a scam artist. He will ghost you after you sign. You will never hear from him again and he will not return your calls. 4 day laborers showed up with a Budget rental truck. My move started out at $9k and ended up $17k. They move by cubic ft and not weight so the more boxes they pack half full, the more money the make. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY OR JOE CAMPBELL.
Big Ben's Moving & Storage seemed like the best choice based my research and review especially after reading that quoted price was actual price and staff wore uniforms. Unfortunately, neither were experienced by me. I realize they can subcontract the work but we were shocked when we saw one of the movers come in wearing a tshirt from a competing moving company! In fact, it was the competing company that they "lowered our quote" for when I sent it to BB's for a price match. No masks or consideration of COVID.
