I will give only 3 stars because Ancestry will only give all information if you join their membership which has a high monthly fee. They do not let you know up front that to get all results you must join and pay high monthly fee. I would have used another company if I had known that.
I have been paying $100 2x a year for quite a few years now (that's on top of the initial $ amount you pay for the test). I was stoked to get the results. I didn't really keep up with it for a couple years, but when I went back to dive deeper into it, my whole DNA chart had shifted VERY drastically. And then it did it again a couple of years later. So my question becomes, did they/do they know ANYTHING about your lineage/genealogy from the actual blood tests, or are they piecing it together as people enter their family lineage information FOR FREE on their own time WHILE STILL PAYING THIS COMPANY? I was tremendously excited to get my Ancestry DNA kit for my birthday, in 2017. I spit in the tube, sent it in, and waited. I would finally get answers about where I came from and many things I didn't know. The results came and I was stunned and delighted and told everybody I know to get their test done. Soon after, I started getting emails from Ancestry, trying to sell me a dozen different things which I neither wanted not needed.
