Overall Rating: 4.9 / 5 (Excellent)

National Debt Relief is a provider of debt settlement programs that have helped thousands of families get out from under the burden of excessive debt. To date the company has settled over $1 billion and can work with clients who have anywhere between $7,500 and $100,000 in unsecured debt. Though National Debt Relief has a great reputation among its clients, it must be noted that debt settlement is not right for everyone, and it is a credit to the company that they are 100% transparent about what clients can expect and the risks involved. When you enter into a debt settlement program you essentially stop paying your creditors until the debt settlement agency can negotiate with them for a lower overall balance. This means your credit score will most likely be negatively affected. Also, some creditors will not agree to negotiate. In light of this, debt settlement with National Debt Relief is an ideal option for those who already have bad credit, or those who are willing to take a short term credit hit in order to get out from under the load of massive debt quickly. It is a less drastic and more attractive option to bankruptcy.

National Debt Relief Services

Services - 4.8 / 5

National Debt Relief offers higher than average savings on debt when compared to most debt settlement companies, up to 30% after fees. The program lasts anywhere from 24-48 months. As mentioned above, customers stop paying creditors and start paying monthly payments into a third party bank account which are lower then the current monthly payments to creditors. When there are sufficient funds in the account, and creditors agree to National Debt Relief's offer, the company will begin making monthly or lump sum payments to the creditor. Fees are not charged until the individual debt is fully resolved.

Qualification

Qualification - 5 / 5

The biggest qualification with National Debt Relief is the ability to make monthly payments into the 3rd party settlement fund. In many cases, this amount will be lower than the current payments to creditors. Customers must owe more than $7,500 and be sufficiently behind in payments as to incentivize creditors to negotiate, usually several months. Finally, customers must be going through a financial crisis with no quick end in sight. This could be due to a recent job loss or reduction in hours, a separation or divorce which caused a reduction in income, death of a spouse, unexpected medical or hospital bills, student loans, or IRS taxes to name a few. This is so National Debt Relief can prove financial hardship and show creditors you qualify for debt settlement.

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission, National Debt Relief does not charge any up front fees. There also may be fees related to the payment bank account, these can include setup and monthly fees. All fees, however, are not collected until individual debts are settled.

Having the worst experience ever! Going on 3 weeks of a paycheck garnishment because NDR DID NOT send payment to the attorney in charge of a Capital One account. All this after having to go to court against the attorney, only for our attorney, which was retained through a service NDR offers, to NOT SHOW UP for our court appearance. NDR can't understand why we want to end their service?? They admitted they didn't send the payments, on the client portal it shows they have...all they need to do is send the attorney the $520 NDR has put us behind, but guess what?? They don't send it because they don't have it and when I ask where it went, NO ONE KNOWS! They should eat the $520 & get it... Read More

The biggest problem with this company is they are not trustworthy. Even worse, they are also poorly trained and will tell you something different every time you call. Whether their disorganization is due to poor training or a facet of their scam, is hard to tell. I worked with this company for a year. In that time, all three of my accounts have been charged off. For months, I was told that one of my accounts was resolved and payments were completed. However, as soon as I asked for a paid in full letter, all of sudden, it was NOT resolved. NDR had only paid one payment out of three. However, they had taken $1500 in fees over the past year & had accomplished nothing. This is taking money for... Read More

I have been with National Debt Relief Service and thought I would save 40% to 50% of my debt. but, so far, with 23% customer fees among others, the 7 I have settled for $7333.64 out of $10,388 with their fees came to a net savings of less than $3055. The fees are very high and now that I am signed up, I cannot leave since they say the creditors would not honor the settlement amounts.

National Debt Relief charged $2400 for very minimal service to set up payment agreement with IRS. When IRS filed another debt, NDR pulled out and told me I would have to look into it myself. I am 73 years old and my wife is 70. National Debt Relief literally stole our money. Very disappointed.

I think I made a HUGE mistake with this company. I signed both my mother, who had a stroke and I take care of, and myself with NDR. Our creditors were getting paid monthly and on time. Now we are stacking up late fees and overlimit fees on a monthly basis. I feel none of our creditors are going to get anything for at least six months or more. Our phones ring non-stop from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Also NDR is charging fees each month against our deposits. Credit wasn't the greatest due to the large amount of credit cards, but at least they got money every month. Credit score is totally in the toilet now.

Went with National Debt Relief. One of my creditors Capital One decided to take me to court and sue me for $8880. Balance at my last payment was $7911. I borrowed $3500 and deposited it in my bank account at National Debt Relief hoping they could reach an agreement and avoid court. I was due in court on Monday. The Friday before court they notified me they had a verbal agreement with Capital One. I was required to take the agreement to court on Monday and have the Capital One Lawyer agree to it and the Judge to sign off and dismiss the case. The agreement was sighed by all parties. National Debt still charged me the full amount of there fees 22%. The agreement was for 70 Cents on the... Read More

I initially considered using this program and the first couple of conversations went well. However, after I received a contract offer, I was not comfortable with the system. I was not behind on my payments and did not want to stop my payments for 4-6 months so that National Debt could then step in and negotiate settlements. I did not want my credit score to drop drastically after I worked hard to restore it, nor did I want to declare being insolvent. I instead had secured a loan this past week at a great rate that will have my debt paid off in the same 3 year period as this company's, yet keep and improve my good credit score. I know that many people would not qualify for such a loan and... Read More

This company is horribly deceptive. Here's what happens: They tell you stop paying your credit cards, and after a few months the creditors will get desperate and begin to negotiate with them. Well, you get hounded by all the creditors threatening lawsuits on you, while your credit score bottoms out. On top of this, national debt calls and says, we can settle this account for 75% of you your balance instead of their claimed 50%, but the catch is national debt charges a 23% fee. So, your total debt reduction is 2% - 3%. I told them this is BS, but they said if I didn't go ahead with this settlement I might get sued. I said doesn't national debt take care of that for you? They nope... Read More

After my husband lost his job and had to go back to school, our finances became a terrible mess. I was so stressed since he also had 3 eye surgeries and I had to pay for almost everything with 2 kids, with one being special needs. I called NDR and he said not to worry and he can help. Michael VZ. was kind, professional and alleviated my stress in one or two or three phone calls. I had close to 100,000 dollars in debt and two of the credit cards are settled after 5 months. I still have a few more to go, but thank God I found NDR. Yes, I was scared, and skeptical, but they do help you in more ways than one. I am hopeful that the other cards will be resolved.

National Debt Relief has been an answer to prayer. We were drowning in debt. The stress was so overwhelming! I felt relief the very first time I spoke with them. Every time I call, I get to speak to a real person without having to wait for a long time. They are always helpful and friendly. I am so grateful! It has only been a few months and my debt is already depleting. Thank you National Debt Relief!

National Debt Relief has successfully negotiated 2 of my debts. The first they negotiated a significantly reduced total, thus significantly reduced the length of time to pay off. The second one, again NDR negotiated at a significantly reduced total due, low enough that they paid it off in one payment. I am extremely satisfied and happy with what NDR had done for me so far and are continuing to do. Mary Parker

This company is the "Real Deal" for debt relief. We have only been with this program less than 6 months and our largest debt has been resolved. NDR customer service has always been friendly and easily answers any and all questions. If you for some reason decide not to follow through with them you can cancel at any time. You have nothing to loose for giving NDR a try. You won't regret it!
