Latest Hunter Douglas Reviews
While the quality of the fabrics and style of Hunter Douglas blinds is quite good the quality of the components are cheap and break often. I spent over $20,000 on blinds and I've had recurrent issues with the motors and the strings getting tangled over and over. Most of it was able to be resolved under warranty in the first month but here after six months, a blind is tangled again. After dealing with this supplier and understanding what went wrong I understand that the connections to the motors are not very robust, especially compared to other brands like Levolor. In fact, level or are the exact same blinds but for half the cost with different fabric. All the components otherwise are the... Read More
We bought 5 blinds in 2019. One year later one of the shades did not roll up anymore. It was repaired free of charge but shipping was $95. Since then every year another shade had same issue. We are now 4 shades into this issue. We really expected better quality. But I guess the quality is not up to par with any other no brand shade
Flimsy, Cheap Crap. Hunter-Douglas Evercwood They look TERRIBLE! They will probably lower the value of the new house. Very expensive Custom Design and Installation. The Blinds themselves are a very poor-quality product. What a RIP-OFF! No Hunter-Douglas quality here!
We purchased 16 shades for our entire home in 2020 and had them installed in 2021 for around 15K. In the last 2.5 years we have had to replace numerous motors for the shades. While HD sends you free motors we must pick up the cost for labor. About 1 month ago we had 8 shades stop working at the same time. Due to the location of the shades I knew that it was more than the motors. When I called my "dealer" they talked to their HD representative that insisted on that it had to be the motors. As an educated person with common sense there is no way that 8 motors would go out at the same. I check my fuses, low voltage connections and everything worked fine. I asked for them to send out a... I want to share my experience with Hunter Douglas dealer .Chronology of events May 17, 2023 Paid $150 for a service call for one motorized curtain under factory warranty. (not working) June 1,2023 A technician arrived and advised all four of the curtains had shorted battery packs. June 14,2023 the same technician returned and replaced the battery packs. Still not working. June 27, 2023 Another Technician showed up and was unable to fix the curtains. July 14, 2023 The Technician that showed up on June 27, 2023 returned with another technician and was unable to fix the curtains. August 3, 2023 The curtains were picked up allegedly to be repaired by the factory. Note: Every time I... Read More
Sadly I have to agree with a number of comments here. Reliability does not match the sticker price and dealer service quality is poor. In my case several of the battery packs need recharging monthly, not annually as was claimed. Shades (Gen 2) stop reacting to Pebble controller or "Scenes" programming seemingly at random, even when the app shows they have Excellent signal and full battery. Oddly, shades next to one another have completely different signal strengths, though wifi analyzer shows good signal throughout the room. Frustrating that Dealer has promised on numerous occasions to look into it and never does. Embarrassing to have guests come over to darkened rooms. Not what I paid... Read More
The prices I was quoted for 2 small windows was absurd and 6x what Levelor charged.
Hunter Douglas is NOT SOMEONE TO DO BUSINESS WITH. I have been a client for 30 years. They don’t answer their customers service phone number now. I just spent $35k on HD Shades and Luminettes. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. Quality is Poor. HD no longer stands behind their promise to Consumers. HD could care less.
Their QUALITY has gone down hill lately! Had H/D blinds for 20 years, and replaced them with new ones. Have had to replace 2 blinds in the last 3 months due to inner cord breaking. YES, they are under WARRANTY, but you have to SHIP THEM YOURSELF so they can fix/replace. Luckily for us, our local DEALER in San Luis Obispo CA handled the swap out for a nominal fee!
BEWARE OF QUALITY ISSUES FROM THIS ONCE GREAT AMERICAN COMPANY !!
Great when they work. Batteries do need replacement and that service should be offered. They can be used a lot but no warranty on batteries.
Do not do business with Hunter Douglas. We had some blinds malfunction after a short period of time, and despite having a full warranty (which was documented and confirmed), they refused to honour the warranty and ended up only offering us a $200 coiupon to a future purchase. Brutal. Dont do business with a company that doesnt honour their contracts!
Hunter Douglas = poor quality.
I have roman shades that have been replaced twice in 4 years due to unraveling. They need to bind or hem the edges. I also have 16 motorized shades, plus many other shades in the home. 8 of the 16 motors have failed, about once every 3 months. 4 years into the warranty, 1 more year left. Poor quality.
I have 14 windows with Hunter Douglas motors. I have replaced batteries regularly for 6 six years . The last six months, I started to have problems with opening and closing. I contacted Innovative Openings ( they installed them ), paid for on-site repair and I now must replace six of 13 window motors. Warranty is limited to 5 years by Hunter Douglas ( they reuse to replace the motors at no charge) so I must pay over $600 for replacement motors and also repair time to replace them. Six motors failed? That is a problem . I would not recommend Hunter Douglas . Too bad, as we like our binds but they are not reliable.
We have been HD brand loyal for years. But like many large corporation some of the service pieces or manufacturing ownership has changed. Recently I spent countless hours to no avail to attempt to get directions and a part to service a Patio Luminette. Currently such requests are routed through Custom Decorators, OR but they handle service calls for all incoming enquiries. The issue arises as it is clear they do not have historical records...despite me pulling down and sending pictures of three of the labels on the products we own...without their own project number (P-_____) they can't provide any service. They suggested I call my original dealer...no dealers only retail land install.... Read More
I spent over $13,000 on custom Hunter Douglas Honeycomb shades, Silhouettes and Roman shades. I purchased them through Belfort Furniture store in Sterling VA. When one of the cordless Honeycomb shades got stuck in the down position, I contacted the store since "failure to operate" was covered under the Lifetime Warranty. I had purchased the window treatments 8 years prior and had never used the warranty. Belfort Furniture informed me that they were no longer in the window treatment business and provided me a phone number to Hunter Douglas customer service. The Hunter Douglas customer representative told me the cords were only covered for 7 years. I replied I purchased cordless shades... Read More
DO NOT BUY A HUNTER DOUGLAS blind. I never write bad reviews, but this one made me want to take the time. Ordered 2 motorized shades for our bathroom in 11/19 for 2 windows that are right next to each other in my primary bathroom. Cost $800 each. In February 2022, I noticed one had the fabric darkening from the top to about the middle of the shade. Within a couple more months, it was 5 times darker. Finally realized it was black mold on the inner part of the honeycomb! My bathroom is super clean, and the matching shade was perfect. Took it back, showed photos of the other one. They are supposed to be guaranteed, but they would not replace. Told me that "it was exposed to moisture". No... Read More
1) The blind hub constantly loses a connection and requires a hard reset to make it work again 2) In spite of several visits (at my own expense) several of our blinds respond less than 30% of the time to commands from the hub 3) The hub frequently reports battery levels that are clearly incorrect (0% even though the blinds move when given commands). They take days to update (if at all) after the batteries are replaced even when the hub is correct that the batteries are dead (although who knows, they could be fine and the software is just wrong, I just don't trust it) 4) In spite of the numerous flaws hunter douglas does not publish consumer instructions to troubleshoot the problems.... They wear okay, then the strings go and you find yourself on the phone to get them repaired--again. And that took 5 months this last time with us trying to find out when they'd be ready. Overpriced for the time spent on them to get them repeatedly fixed "under warranty".
Atrocious Service!
We had our whole house outfitted with custom HD window treatments. They seem to be pretty nice quality*, but the price was astronomical (and that was with 50% discount). More importantly, over TWO YEARS later and they still have not come out as promised to fix mistakes made when they were installed or deliver the extra remote controls we paid for 2 years ago. Use another company that cares a little more about customer satisfaction.
*...or so I thought. Today, one of the electric blinds stopped functioning as well. God knows how long it will take them to fix it.
This is a review from a very dissatisfied customer in Canada. We've been waiting for blinds since May (this is mid October), our dealer has no answers, my wife's call to their USA headquarters was met with a very snippy unhelpful telephone operator, whose "best" answer was "talk to your dealer, they know". Our dealer says they have shut down all their manufacturing and office functions in Canada, and given their uncaring attitude, is not surprising (sounds similar to the Target executives who felt they knew it all in Canada). We've cancelled our order and will look elsewhere. Guess if you have a billion $$ in revenue, don't have to care. One star is least I can give.
Had hunter Douglas window blinds installed (plantation shutters) the installation was very poor and the blinds were broke and would not close properly very disappointed with the blinds
We paid thousands of dollars for the blinds in our house. The motor doesn't work on one of the blinds and they want $1500 to replace ONE small blind. The change parts out so that you can not get them fixed and you have to purchase new ones. The silhouette blinds also shredded from the sun, something that is not under warranty. of course they are going to be in the sun, they are in your windows. They should be putting a sun proof coating on them or let you know that this will happen. I will not purchase from them anymore, they are so overpriced.
Hunter Douglas is a front company for the CIA. It was run by a Sidney Zabludoff (Google him). They put listening devices in the headrails, that is why Robin Zabludoff helped them take over all of the worlds window covering companies. In addition they smuggle drugs out of the Netherlands. I know used to work for them. Wake up America!
I concur!! My last Hunter Douglas blinds were installed 2003. And my first rooms were installed in 1998. A few months ago, I was cleaning and removed one of the valences and the clip broke. I removed another to see how to replace it and broke another. I think they became brittle with age. I've spent hours looking for replacement clips. Finally ordered, what I thought might work, from Amazon. They did not! Then I went direct to Hunter Douglas site and found an email contact. They responded almost immediately! And now just 5 days later, I received an email saying they are shipping me the replacement valence clips--at NO cost! THAT is about the BEST customer service I have ever experienced!!
Their warranty stinks. Yes, there's lifetime warranty but labor for repairs cost. I have a broken shade on my sliding glass door and they want $137 to come look at it with a potential for additional $137 if they need to come back. The shade cost $859, to start with and is only 2.5 years old. That doesn't seem like a lifetime warranty to me!
