ConsumersAdvocate is misleading about this software. Avast DOES have a Free Version, which I am running. It does have nag popups, but it works well. I don't mind the nag popups because I may want to upgrade eventually when I get my new desktop set up.
I'm not sure what to think about the "complaints" that Avast removes the spyware they installed...Maybe that is a GOOD thing?? But you should have a choice about whether to keep a program, I suppose. It is the person being spied ON who should be able to prevent that software from accessing their computer.
ConsumersAdvocate needs to update this review to tell the truth about Avast's Free Version (maybe they wouldn't get paid?)
Avast removed KidInspector, the software I purchased to control my son, without my permission! What's going on? Why does this anti-virus remove my paid programs? I paid both for Avast and KidInspector and I need to use both programs without any issues! I see that many people have the same problem, but the company doesn't even try to help its customers.
I've been using CleverControl for a long period of time. The soft always helped me track my staff, I used it legally on their computers, besides they were all notified that I monitor them. But then I decided to install Avast antivirus on their computers. What a mistake! Yesterday I wanted to access to the staff's files and found out that avast had blocked the monitoring software a month ago without my permission! Is that how antivirus supposed to work? Block our company's paid program on several computers? Awful!
Purchased and used Spyrix program on mu computer and the software worked fine until I installed avast antivirus. Avast silently blocked Spyrix without asking me for a permission!! I just can't understand why this antivirus blocks a paid program? I deliberately installed spyrix on my pc and paid money for it 'cause I need it and avast just decided to block it.
I have been using Avast for several years now and it ha worked very well for me...
