Fetch ranks highly with us chiefly because of the comprehensiveness of coverage, including coverage for the entire sick visit including exam fees, and flexibility in customizing deductibles, reimbursement rates, and maximum annual payouts. In light of this, the customer has a lot of leeway to mix and match to get the right premiums for their individual pet and financial situation.

Fetch offers the most extensive coverage in comparison to the other companies we rate. They handle all new accidents and illnesses without restrictions for hereditary or congenital conditions, as well as medications, advanced testing, hospital stays, rehabilitative care, and holistic therapies.

Fetch provides coverage for behavioral treatments on all policies, including anxiety disorders such as travel and separation anxiety, noise phobia, and house soiling. Many other providers require a rider or don’t cover behavioral treatments at all.

Also, all non-routine veterinary exam fees are covered in all plans, including at emergency & specialist vets. While some providers don’t cover the cost of the exam, Fetch does, saving pet parents between $50-$250 per visit on average (with other providers, that’s the equivalent of an additional deductible you must meet on every veterinary visit).

Fetch has the most comprehensive coverage of dental injury and treatment of periodontal disease. Fetch’s comprehensive dental coverage protects against multiple accidents and injuries including broken teeth, periodontal disease, extractions and advanced dental treatments such as root canal therapy for every tooth in the mouth, not just the canines like some other providers.

Finally, Fetch will cover curable pre-existing conditions after the 365 day exclusionary period after your policy becomes active. The company also covers most bilateral conditions when one side is considered to be pre-existing, which is something many other providers won't do.

Fetch also prides itself on offering more coverage than any other provider. They offer premium pet insurance and that means they are not the cheapest. Claims & Service

Fetch is one of the only pet insurance companies to specifically state a claims payout timeframe in its terms and conditions, 30 days. However, most are reimbursed in 5-7 business days after submission of a completed claim, especially when submitted via the Fetch App or online.

To file a claim, you need two documents:
● A finalized invoice from your vet. Your invoice should clearly show what your pet was treated for, how much you were charged and it has to be paid in full.
● Detailed medical records from your pet’s most recent checkup. Medical records show us your pet’s medical history and let us see what we can cover, which allows us to process your claim quickly.

One thing to note: claims have to be filed within 90 days of treatment. If a claim is submitted more than 90 days after the date on the invoice, it won’t be covered.

Fetch also gives you the flexibility of submitting this information through its free app for Android and iPhone. You can also use their online portal on your phone or computer. This lets you file claims instantly and without messy paperwork 24/7.

Fetch also features the "Telehealth" service. This facility provides coverage for telephone consultations for an immediate lifesaving emergency.

My dog recently passed away after a courageous (and costly) fight with cancer. PetPlan was caring, professional and prompt with claims payments. This enabled us to focus our love and attention on our beloved furry friend. And just today I have purchased a policy for our new puppy. Thank you PetPlan!! They tend to be (a bit) more expensive than some of their competitors, but very simply, you get what you pay for: excellent coverage, great customer service and prompt payment of claims.

I was having difficulty getting a claim paid out. I contacted customer service and received prompt and very efficient assistance from happiness manager taylor bell-branchcomb! Everything was completed and a follow up call was received to verify this within the same day I called.

Wow. After reading the reviews below, I hesitate to voice my opinion as it does not totally agree with the other reviewers. At first I was irate at their answers to my claims for my beloved Chloe but it seems it was only in the communication. They sent 2 emails denying the claim but they were only pieces of the claim. The 3rd email which should have been sent first processed the claim as promised and gave me a fair reimbursement. Their personnel are easy to talk to and most certainly sympathetic to pet sicknesses and losses. Personally, I'd like to thank Sarah V for her attention to my claim and initial complaints. This is the first time I purchased pet insurance and had no idea what to expect. Just purchased February 2018 for my dog and in November 2018 went to a specialized vet for a urinary issue, they found cancer. The urinary issue was put on the back burner and the cancer needed immediate surgery! I called Petplan to find out if it was covered and they said it was but with a $5,000 surgery hanging out there I wanted to make sure and get a pre-authorization. I scanned in a simple 2 page Form along with the vet's notes and less than 2 days later had my approval for the surgery!! She is wonderful , helpful ,empathetic and goes out of her way to correct my frustrations. I have had Pet plan for 3-4 years on my Boxers. I have always been impressed by the quality of your phone Representatives. They have always helped me navigate your system. We’ve had Petplan for a few years and I’m grateful. My dog had major bilateral knee surgery in excess of what I would be able to afford if I didn’t have this insurance. I had to place this on my charge card. I usually submit my claims via Petplan app on my phone, which takes no time at all. I had attempted this several times without success so I phoned the company. Taylor B. expedited this right away knowing that I needed to pay my charge card. Taylor B. also followed up on the submission of claims. Above and beyond of what I expected. I did not receive a check for a claim that was submitted, but the information on my account said it was paid. I called and the customer care representative called the claims division and asked them to resend it. I received the (duplicate) check within the next two weeks. I feel like with the expedite, it could have been quicker, but I'm happy that they were able to resend it.

We have been with Petplan for 10 years, and we used to rate them a 5 stars company, until they changed their underwriter. We had the Gold plan before, 100% coverage with $50 copay for general visits and 30% co-insurance with specialists. However, since they switched to the new underwriter, our premium was raised from $100 something to almost $200, and our coverage was changed to $300 deductible PER condition with only 90% coverage. With a senior cat who has various minor issues, we don't get much coverage unless something major happens. So besides our $2000 premium annually, I am paying another one to two thousands dollars out of pocket because each condition didn't meet the $300... Read More

I've had PetPlan for 11 months and was pleased with rates and coverage. HOWEVER - I just received a letter stating that they are changing coverage. Exorbitant price increase for much poorer coverage. And - if you didn't read the letter (thought it was junk mail or just missed it) the new plan would automatically go into effect without your approval. For a significant change like this one should be REQUIRED to approve the new policy.
