Pets Plus Us is a pet insurance provider offering coverage for Canadian pets. The company permits pet owners to purchase insurance against accidents only, accidents and illnesses, and routine veterinary care. You can choose your own co-pay with Pet Plus Us covering either 70%, 80%, or 90% of eligible claims. The insurer is located in Oakville, Ontario.

Pets Plus Us is a fairly new pet insurance company that provides pet insurance services in Canada. It offers three major types of pet insurance policies, Accident, Accident and Illness, and Wellness Care. Policies are also offered separately for cats and dogs with three distinct deductible and co-pay options for each.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation takes effect on the next month’s payment due date following the date the cancellation request was received. A refund of the premium paid will be given when a request for cancellation is made 30 days from the date of a completed application.

Pets Plus Us offers Wellness Care as a stand-alone plan. With it, you pay your monthly fee and schedule veterinary appointments according to your pet's age and selected Wellness Care benefits. You are then reimbursed for 100% of the pre-selected services.

  • Up to $1,000 in Emergency Medical Coverage if your pet incurs a life-threatening injury while lost.
  • A subscription to Modern Cat or Modern Dog magazine.

Summary

Pets Plus Us is a good pick for pet insurance as the company does not discriminate based on age or increase premiums based on claim history. However, annual deductibles do increase every five years but will never go up more than $100 at a time. It's also worth pointing out that Pets Plus Us' deductible only has to be fulfilled annually and not on per condition/incident basis. The company will also cover alternative treatments so long as they are administered by a licensed veterinarian.

Every single claim they try to avoid to reimburse with own vision based on all information what they have and they use some excuse that is not even connected to claim and you will have to keep arguing and get upset even do if case is so clear,then they made you claim again with some additional information, they review it again after another 2-3 weeks and then they accept ,i do not recommend this office ,based on my experience they have claim department trained to avoid payments

I just had a terrible experience with this company. I went on line yesterday to get a quote through our Costco Membership and the website picked a plan for me which I had not picked and will not allow me to go back and look at what I thought was a more reasonable plan. When I called in on their phone line and asked how I could refresh and start over again, they said just to refresh my browser which I found didn't work and the website just kept taking over and went right back to the original quote which was in my opinion extremely high.The fellow on the phone kept telling me he had no clue why this would happen and it must be my computer that was the problem.

They will look for any possible way not to pay you out. Don't trust the fake reviews! I promise you, you'll end up out hundreds or even thousands of dollars if you ever need to make a claim. On top of that, the customer service is absolutely horrendous. It will take you a week to hear back after sending an email, and good luck getting through over the phone. Be warned!

I have there Flex care which used to be Wellness care you buy X number of dollars of insurance you are supposed to guess at what dollar amount you might need for the upcoming year. I do not think that is fair with there Wellness plan you could purchase it at any time. With covid the vets were closed and it is going to leave me with a loss of 450.00 dollars which they are not willing to help with. Not right, especially since I am on a fixed income. Every other company is willing to help people and do things they normally would not do because of Covid-19. I think this is very bad customer service!

This insurance company seems a lie company. They will find any excuse to reject the claim. I have the vet's letter to prove my dog never had the "pre-existing" disease but they just simply not to pay. How come Costco also select this company to be in Costco's website? Stay away from this Pets Plus Us, a lie company!

Not the best company actually. I was very happy with Pet Secure for many years but they cover only ONE health condition per year. Big problem! Now I am with Pets Plus Us , big deductibles for old dogs, annual increase in premiums (they claim because of the inflation), and you have to check how they calculate every claim return.

My experience with Pets Plus Us has been nothing but Positive. I have two Bernese Mountain Dogs and have had to use the insurance several times in the past few years. Customer service has always been excellent and they are quick to reimburse me. I think they are an excellent company. Also received a premium discount for being a Costco member. I highly recommend them.

Pets Plus Us had been fantastic so far. My dog had a $5500 knee surgery at the specialist and the problem arose a few weeks after signing up, they are covering 90% of the surgery as that's the plan I signed up for. They also cover 90% of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation she will be needing. They never increase my monthly rates and won't increase my deductible until she is 5 years of age. So far absolutely recommend the company.

I am paying $120 a month for a dog under 5 years old. This is a complete rip off. I have to co pay and there is a $200 deductible. I will be cancelling my insurance.

If I could give this insurance company zero stars I would. They are scammers. My dog recently got diagnosed with a liver mass but they said it’s a preexisting condition cause she has Cushings. A freaking tumor on her liver has nothing to do with Cushings. I have had Two vets and a radiologist all conclude there is not related. But of course the insurance won’t pay. Totally bullshit. Never use this company.
