I submitted a claim for my mom in June 2020, its now Mid September and we are still no where near getting it resolved or started paying out/ the elimination period. The throw up so many road blocks, this is truly an un-ethical company. My father's policy has been paying out for a little over a year, but submitting the bills every month is very tedious an manual - barely a step up from fax machines and mailing paper through the USPS. If you have bought into a policy - try to get your money back ASAP.

They will not pay on my 92 year old mothers LT care policy that she has had since 1999. I just don't understand. I have been submitting documents since 02/2020. I have provided all the information which they requested. This information was sent to Peter Burke, Assistant Vice President, LTC Claims Operations. I have sent 3 additional letters to Mr. Burke but have never received a response. Have spoken with several people in the Philippians. You can hear rooster crowing in the background. I finally during June 2020 ended writing letters to Tony Teta, Head of US Legacy John Hancock and Brooks Tingle, President and Chief Executive Officer. I never received a response to my letters. I thought an Advocate was someone who helps me understand and work my way thought a claim. so far I have not felt like I am getting any help or answers to my questions. My wife "s policy has been OKED AND WE ARE JUMPING TROUGH THE HOOPS. WHAT YOU HAVE NAMED the Elimination period. (Nice move by your lawyers) So what lies ahead before you start paying up? What else will you require before you start depositing some money into my bank account every month?

Once the claim is approved they will pay but you have to constantly check to see if they pay every month. Sometimes they try to sneak by and not pay every month. I think the company is very unethical. They are just horrible to deal with

Our second claim has been denied along with the first appeal. My mother's health is declining and her monthly rent plus accommodations are phenomenal. John Hancock apparently is stalling hoping my mother passes. Apparently this company and their employees have taken an oath to not assist their customers. My mother should have thrown her 60K plus premiums down the toilet because she is getting the same result from this company. So, do you think they want us to give up? Me thinks so but that is not going to happen. Anyone know of a good lawyer that handles Elder Care and Insurance fraud?

We have been dealing with John Hancock LTC Insurance since March 2019. It is now November 2019 and we are supposedly on the last step of this process. It has been a horrifying and frustrating process at every step. I had to send everything via mail and they responded by mail so this just increased the time delays. I had to mail the POA paperwork, fax the POA paperwork, and scan the POA paperwork before they finally agreed they had the documents to even begin the claim. Every step has been long and painful and involved sending and faxing and scanning items multiple times. Multiple phone calls with long hold times and always more delays. They always need a period of time to review and... Read More

Although they have been receiving my 95 year old mother’s premiums for 22 years and she was recently denied services, because the Nurse who visited once, sent a report which resulted in her being denied. They don’t think that she is “substantially “ limited enough in her activities of daily living to need help! They are denying and delaying her claim, so that no money will be paid out. Very poor customer service, phone calls not returned, letters from folks you cannot call back. Completely unethical, immoral and abusive to the elderly. Can someone intervene? Only giving part of a star rating because it’s the only way to post. Should be zero stars. Very very very poor rating... Read More

Please beware of this company that preys on the elderly! My parents have been paying into their JH long term care plan since 1997. This last year, while tending to my father as he was dying, my 83 year old mother became eligible to start her long term care payments. But because during this time of stress she lost track of her account and missed 4 payments, the account was reduced so she can only recoup 20% of what she paid into it. So she paid $42,000 into the account over 21 years, and now that she is in assisted living and needs the income she has been paying for, the most she can receive back is $8400, which covers about 2 months. Please read the fine print and make sure someone is... Read More

This company should be ashamed of themselves!! They have increased my long term healthcare insurance premiums every year over the last five years while taking benefits away. They lied when I bought the policy over 13 years ago promising no increase in policy premiums. They take advantage of old people that have invested so much over the years that it is hard to let go of what our investment promised. If these increases continues it is obvious the investment will outweigh any benefit they have left us with. They need to have a "lemon law" in order to sue insurance companies just like they have for car manufacturers!!!

Together my Husband and I have spent nearly 80,000.00. Just got another increase on premium. After, reading all complains customers are facing. Do we walk away now? If they stopped selling premiums in 2016, sounds pretty risky to keep. What happens if they go bankrupt? My husband is 79 and I'm 78. Who would know buying in your fifties that a company would refuse paying when you get older. There should be a law to protect people from being treated this way.
