I had out of pocket claim they refused to pay for simple cleaning in switching jobs and they were only choice for DENTAL coverage. They would not give me 5 minutes on appeal to pay a claim to out of network dentist. I am now forced to pay out of pocket and have to pick dentist further away from my job. This company is a crook and should not be allowed to treat people this way.

The worst company I have ever encountered. They did pay my claims; however, they could not seem to acknowledge my monthly premium payments. I had to fax them my bank's proof of payment several times and then was told that they were not able to read the faxes. I argued with them every month about the receipt of my payments. The really stupid part of this saga was that I was not able to speak with anyone in the Premium Acctg dept -- the people who were supposed to process my payments and the people who received my faxes. It was extremely frustrating to try to talk with an intermediary "customer service" rep who really could not see what the problem was. Back in November, I was told... Read More

I am totally disgusted with the claims service with Cigna Dental. My employer chose Cigna as the sole provider of Dental insurance and I really think they are about the worst ever. I end up submitting claim forms two or three times because they say they did not receive it or one of the forms did not show up and any other excuse they can use to delay paying the claim. This happens about 50% of the time that I file a dental claim. I call and am told that "they are working on it...". The MYCIGNA website is not showing a most recent claim I sent paperwork on Jan 22--almost 30 days ago. Really very poor service from Cigna. Signed Odell S

I have Cigna through my company. My dental premiums are decent, but have been trying to get them to cover implants for over a year. My plan covers implants, but they have constantly changed the reason for not covering it. Their follow up has been unreliable and my dentist and oral surgeon has resubmitted several different forms of documentation. This is a very sad situation!

I recently had a question regarding benefits. My dental office asked me for a payment after the service. I usually pay upfront, but thought the fee was higher than it should be. Kelsey from Cigna said she would call the office for me the next day as the office was closed due to weather. She followed up and the fee was infact not correct. Who want to pay more than they have to. I thought the professional service and the follow up for me was wonderful customer service. Most providers would leave it up to the patient to do the ground work. Thanks Kelsey and Cigna...much appreciation from me!!

When shopping for an dental insurance plan they assured me my dentist was in-network so we signed up. Then months later I needed a crown and now they're saying my dentist is out-of-network and stuck me with the massive bill. Bait & Switch!! How can they do that without informing us? Don't waste your money on Cigna dental.

stay away!!!! you pay for insurance that doesn't cover. if you need bridge work search through their fine print before having work done! because you're probably not covered according to their policy.

Terrible billing system. Un-capable of accepting new information. They don't send out letters like they claim and coverage gets dropped unbeknownst to the policy-holder. Over-all company with no value to the individual person.

My dentist charged $278 for a procedure. My responsibility should have been 20% of that. But Cigna uses the "contracted amount" to calculate my 20%. The contracted amount in this case was $488. So, Cigna calculates my responsibility as 20% of $488, not 20% of the actual billed amount of $278. But Cigna only pays the difference between my responsibility and what the dentist actually charged. So, in the end, the dentist only gets the $278 they charged, but I pay more than Cigna does.
