January 21st, 2019 They are absolutely awful. I checked before I went to my eye Dr. and was told about the so-called $100 eye benefit. First off, it does NOT apply to exams as mentioned above. Secondly, they required me to fill out my own claim form and I emailed it to them. The form asks the usual questions like "address". Do they actually, look at that? no. I moved 3 years ago and allegedly, they sent out the check to my old address. The claim form was submitted to them on 11/2/2018 and here it is 1/21/2019 and nothing. Oh I've had conversations with representatives, managers, claims manager---this morning even. I was told I could have the tracking number too. nope.... Read More

My wife has had two crowns done based on the recommendation of our in network dentist. They have refused to pay the claim stating that they feel that there was enough tooth left to do a filling. To me it seem like Ameritas would rather just have my wife have her teeth pulled out instead of covering the crowns, which were the suggestion of our dentist. On that note as a customer and not a dental expert how is it that someone in an office can make a determinaiton on what will be covered and what will not be covered. Part of me wonders if they have a policy in place to just deny all claims and only pay on the ones that fight it. It is very frustrating to pay for a benifit but still have... Read More

Have had Ameritas for about 3 years but their customer service is for the birds. They will not let me check on my husband's claim status and trying to login to their website is hopeless. It never works. They really suck as far as caring for the customer. I wish we could go back to Delta Dental!!

Paid $55 for a regular cleaning for me but only $33 for a Periodontal cleaning for my wife. A Periodontal cleaning is essentially a regular cleaning that goes deeper. So why not at least pay for a regular cleaning? They claimed it was because of how it is coded. Companies that nickel and dime people and then hide behind excuses like "coding" are only about one thing. And it's not the customer.

I have had Ameritus for a year IN NETWORK. I also have a discounted insurance so I have two. 2 implants are being billed $3172 a pop. Ameritus is covering $1084 that's 25 percent. 2 crowns were put in today, with my discount rate and Ameritus $759 was billed I paid $439.50 That's not bad My premium is about $780 a year with eye. IT still is a savings I have more work to do on the teeth. \If I didn't have it I still would have paid out more. not much more but more. . But all my X-rays were covered and cleaning. My extractions I had two they covered about$150. I paid out most on those. so gave them average I haven't lost money.

Surprised to see all the negative reviews. I've had this coverage about 10 years and it's the best dental I've ever had. I go to an out of network provider and have been impressed by prompt payments and the amount covered - I have quarterly periodontal treatments - and I wonder if some dentists are less skilled in coding (which really matters) or if coverage in NYS is different. Yes, the coverage maxes out at $1,000/year - that's that way every plan I've ever had operates, but if you go for a preventive visit at least annually there is a credit system that helps off set major expenses such as a root canal.

They have lots of in network dentist in my area I've had them for 1 year and never have been denied for any treatment. Go to healthcarebluebook.com to see if your dentist is overcharging you. My dentist is honest so no problems Ameritas pays the 50% for all major services.

Very disappointed. It would have been cheaper for me to have paid out of pocket directly with my own dentist (who is out of network, so I wasn't permitted to go to him under Ameritas). This is because he offers his own insurance, which is cheaper than ameritas. Unfortuantely I was mislead when purchasing the insurance to believe that I would only be responsible for $50 of all preventative (cleaning) and basic (xray) services, so I chose the Ameritas route. Full disclosure, I purchased the insurance through a third party, however even the materials from Ameritas were not clear on this issue. As a result, I have cancelled my plan.

8.6/10?? Really? I hope I've stumbled upon a joke website that isn't serious about this "Excellent" grade. I've had Ameritas Dental Insurance for around five years now, and I can tell you they are the worst dental insurance company I've ever had. I'm 47, so I've had a lot of dental insurance companies for providers over the years. Unfortunately, Ameritas is provided by my employer, so I am forced to have it. They "allow" a certain amount of cleanings, x-rays, etc..., but they have a bunch of nitpicky "other" items that are not allowed. I pretty much expect that whenever my family goes to the dentist, I'll be getting a bill in a few weeks for around $60-$80 additional per person. Oh, and... Read More
