Stannah Contract & Plan Details

Warranty - 4.3 / 5

Stannah works in two different ways- in its UK headquarters, the company functions as a direct dealer, selling and servicing its products itself. In the rest of the world, Stannah provides stairlifts through its extensive dealer network. Warranty and contract information therefore, varies according to geographical location, but customers are sure to find new, certified refurbished, and rental options available. Though Stannah itself doesn't have a financing arrangement with a financial institution, the company's webpage does list a number of helpful resources for users on a budget. Since straight lifts range between $2,500-$5,000, (curved ones are approximately $8,500+), financing is probably a good idea. Stannah recommends that users who expect to need lifts for less than 18 months will probably find that a stairlift rental contract is a more cost-efficient solution.

Warranty Fine Print

Every new stairlift comes with a 2 year comprehensive warranty and the first 2 services are free. We regret this offer is not available on products purchased through third party dealers or companies, or products purchased with the aid of a grant and is only applicable to residents of England, Scotland and Wales. Each stairlift purchased as reconditioned comes with a 12 month warranty and one free service. Rented stairlifts come with servicing and call-outs for the duration of the rental agreement.

I can't say that the product is dependable. It stops in between the landings. The first time it happened six months ago, it took 3 visits from 3 different repairmen before they found the problem in the arm wiring. Six months later, the problem re-occured. I narrowed it down to the armrest where the switch is because the product worked with the remote but not the switch on the arm. He told me there was nothing wrong with the unit. A day later, the problems persisted. When I called for service, I was given a time slot and the tech didnt show up. I called a half hour after the time window and was told they meant to call me to tell me the tech was running late. I am dissapointed in... Read More

Really, what is the harm or foul in providing the manufacturer warranty and/or any Stannah (price involved) additional options? It would benefit the comparison process without the (often) painful process of obtaining the information via a "phone call". Shame on you Stannah!
