Humana Coverage

Level of Coverage - 4.5 / 5

Humana offers eight of the ten different Medigap plans, but choices will vary depending on where one lives. However, Humana also offers prescription drug plans, and additional dental and vision plans are available at an extra cost. Some plans may also include a nurse advice line.

Plan Types

  • Plan A - It includes hospital copayment costs up to a year after Medicare benefits are exhausted, the first three pints of blood, Part B coinsurance including preventive care services after deductible, and hospice care.
  • Plan B - Offers the same amount of coverage as Plan A, with the addition of a hospital deductible in each benefit period.
  • Plan C - One of the most popular plans, it adds on a skilled nursing facility daily copay, the Part B annual deductible, and emergency care outside of the U.S.
  • Plan F - Less expensive than other plans, F covers all the same benefits as C, with the addition of 100% of Part B's excess charges.
  • Plan G - Covers almost every Medicare supplemental insurance benefit, with the exception of Part B's annual deductible.
  • Plan K - Covers half of: Part B co-insurance, first 3 pints of blood, hospital deductible, skilled nursing facility, and hospice care. It also covers all the co-insurance for Part B preventive care services.
  • Plan L - Just like Plan K, this covers all of your Part A & B copays after a certain amount out-of-pocket, and 75% of every benefit that Plan K covers (instead of 50%).
  • Plan N - Covers hospital copayments, Part B co-insurance except $20 for office visits & $50 for emergency visits, first 3 pints of blood, hospital deductible, SNF, foreign care, all of Part B co-insurance for preventive care, and hospice care.

Humana is the worst company we’ve ever dealt with. My wife got encephalitis & spent 5 days in intensive care in Mexico. Our bill was $31,000+. We had to pay partially out of pocket. She had to go back to the ER one week later because she was having a seizure. They would not keep her overnight for observation because we owed the hospital money. It took a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & several complaints to their grievance dept. before we received any reimbursement, after being told it was being processed & a check would be released within a couple of weeks. It took nine months of listening to their lies & misinformation & even then, they only reimbursed us $17,000. We cannot... Read More

Shame, Shame and Shame. What a sorry, lying, cheating company. As other have experienced it as well. IS A SCAM. Reaping off whomever they can deceive. The $2000 toward dental work offered is in reality worthless, those of us that had to use this service can attest to it. They are the leeches of the society sucking the blood all those who they deceive to buy their products exploiting them because of their greed and the love of money. As for me and my household we will not renew our policy with Humana. Kiss it goodbye! You lost 2 accounts. That is at least $12000 that you will not collect from Medicare.

Humana is an excellent company but this is a page dealing with supplements and some of the comments deal with lack of covered benefits or the network. This is only possible if you are talking about Medicare Advantage plans. With a supplement, there are no networks or bill paying problems. https://www.weinsuremaryland.com/medicare/

I would not recommend Humana PPO in the State of SC. Their dental coverage is a nightmare. Still waiting after 3 months for payment from them after I submitted the bill and my payment directly to the dental office. Not impressed with their medical either. It takes a long time for the Doctor's Office to get paid also and it's not even an HMO plan!

My Mother required Home Health Care when I pulled her out of a Rehab Center with very bad bed sores. My PC Doc and I requested Home Health Care assistance from Humana (included with insurance) and was told that they had no one who could assist in our area.. What a JOKE !!!!!! I was able to nurse Mother back to health and IMMEDIATELY cancelled my policy with Humana !! I probably should have sued them. AVOID HUMANA - THEY ARE PITIFUL!!

Humana plan B and D are very good unless you need something. Then customer service is a rabbit hole...you go down down down and never get resolution, but you do get to talk to a lot of people.

Do Not Do Business With These Clowns! They don’t care about their clients, only their clients money! I have been denied my blood pressure medication and my blood pressure is currently running 195/125. Denied because I hurt some clowns feelings because I complained about Humana Pharmacy filling and shipping an opioid prescription I cancelled 10 days earlier so this idiot cancelled my pharmacy benefits without my consent. PLEASE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Just to harass me Humana sent me a bill for over $14,000 for dental work I DID NOT have done! THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!

I enrolled in Humana Medicare Supplement Insurance August 1. I am a type 1 diabetic. I utilize a Medtronic 67G insulin pump and constant glucose monitor. It is now September 2. I ran out of insulin strips August 10. I have been on the telephone almost daily with representatives attempting to procure supplies. One transfer after another. A few days ago I finally received strips, and they are the wrong type! And, the representative did not realize I utilized an insulin pump. How in God's name is that possible after receiving my medical records from my endocrinologist?! Hours on the phone, no assurance of diabetic supplies and no insulin strips. Humana is jeopardizing my health.

I agree this insurance plan is a scam!! They send out a big book explaining in detail their coverage. It states dental coverage is up to $2,000 per year, 30% copay for crowns. Then they deny a claim for a crown saying it's not covered. You can find a participating dentist on their website, call the dentist to verify they take the plan, have them perform services described in the big book as covered, then the claim will be denied by saying the dentist is out of network. Total fraud! They will not even cover a visit to a clinic for a simple antibiotic for an infection, saying that health issue is not covered. They might cover prescriptions, and $200 for two fillings, but nothing like... Read More
