Types of Plans

HealthMarkets can connect you to insurers in the marketplace that offer all four levels of individual health plans. These "metal" plans, as they are known, can be Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Each tier is based on the percentage that a plan will pay out of the average overall cost of providing essential health benefits to its members. On average, customers can expect the plans from each tier to spend a percentage of 60% (Bronze), 70% (Silver), 80% (Gold), and 90% (Platinum). The lower your plan tier, the higher your out-of-pocket costs will be–and the lower your premiums. Some of the coverages included in these plans are:

The four tiers of plans in the marketplace offer varying degrees of cost, in addition to differences in what they cover.

Application

In order to receive a free quote, users must first provide two basic sets of information. First, they must enter their zip code and age, followed by answering yes or no to using tobacco in the last six months and being a parent. If the applicant has a spouse or dependants, they must also include their age and whether they have used tobacco in the last six months. Then they must disclose how many members live in their household and may include the household income to see if they qualify for a Federal subsidy. Lastly, applicants must submit both names plus a valid phone number and email address.

Once your information is submitted and your quotes are available, applicants are free to filter their search by company, coverage level, plan type, per individual deductible, max out-of-pocket, and copay. They can also sort results by coverage level, monthly premium, per individual deductible, or max out-of-pocket. Applicants can view a short overview of each plan by clicking to see their details and, once they have made a decision, may call a HealthPocket representative to enroll.

Total scam - can't be trusted. Was charged an amount that was higher than what was agreed upon over the phone.

I'm sure HealthMarkets isn't terrible as a whole. However I would suggest to avoid the Agent J.Roken. He did not properly inform me about critical information. People generally go through insurance agents to help wade through the fine print. I'm not great with insurance information and I sought advice from an agent. I was connected with J.Roken. When I contacted him seeking clarity regarding an issue. He began blaming me. He stated that the situation his advice put me in was all my fault. He wouldn't let me get a full sentence out of my mouth. He then began yelling at me. To which I responded in kind. I'm not proud of myself for yelling back. However, I am 5 months pregnant and was... on 1/1/2016, i started Medicare. Blue Cross premiums were made by error 1/2016 to 5/24/2018 over payment amount $41,150.00, after a DMHC complaint, they returned $3,274.32 they kept $37,000 for doing nothing they paid ZERO claims 1/2016 to 5/24/2018. Not cool ripping off a handicapped person

0 out of 5 stars. The agent I called (H. Miller) at first seemed so helpful. She lied. I know it sounds harsh but here is why. After a 45 minute call to double check all 4 of my prescriptions she told me everything was covered except the maker of my metformin but no biggie we could switch that. so I start getting my bills in January only to find out my insulin nor my oxygen were covered!! I called her back to see if she could help. NOPE! She totally blew me off and told me to contact the insurance directly. THIS IS HER JOB!! My doctor, pharmacy and their assistants were scrambling to get me oxygen and pills. It was absolutely ridiculous. And her attitude once she signed me up was... Read More
