Kentuckian Tempur-Pedic has been offering high-quality mattresses since 1992, which can be purchased via their website or in retail store. Their visco-elastic memory foam was originally developed by NASA to make material for aircraft seats that would improve survivability in a crash.

Size and Firmness

Tempur-Pedic offers three different mattress collections:

  • Tempur-Cloud: extra-soft, with an adaptable core for support

  • Tempur-Contour: their original mattress, this has firm top layers and an extra-strong core

  • Tempur-Flex: hybrid core for a traditional mattress feel, with Tempur layers for contoured cushioning

Each of these has a variety of firmness levels. Though this may seem confusing, their website is quite comprehensive, and offers specific information for each mattress, on an eight-point gradient between soft and firm.

In addition to the standard sizes, Tempur-Pedic also offers a split king, and a split California King.

Features

Tempur-Pedic obtained brand-name recognition as the first memory-foam mattress and are the golden standard by which these are measured. Since their founding, they’ve expanded to three separate collections, with different levels of firmness and some variations in construction, such as a hybrid core, increased breathability, and their new Tempur-Legacy, which a one-layer deeped support level.

Their mattresses offer a high degree of customization via their partnership with Artisans, and they also have split King and California King sizes available, for even less motion transfer and independence. Tempur-Pedic also offers bed frames, foundations, toppers, slippers, linens and pillows, for a full sleep experience.

Purchase Details

Though Tempur-Pedic doesn’t offer sales, believing that their prices are a fair value for the craftsmanship and materials that make their products, when models are being closed out, they may be offered for a reduced cost. Every mattress has a 90-day tryout period, during which the mattress must be sleeped in for the first 30 days. After that period, customers have a remaining 60 days to return their mattress for the full purchase price, minus shipping costs.

Tempur-Pedic offers different levels of warranties depending on the product. In general terms, their mattresses and flat foundations have a ten-year full replacement limited warranty, with a 5-year parts and labor warranty, whereas their bed linens feature a one-year warranty, and their pillows and cushions a 5-year one. Their adjustable bases have 15 to 25-year warranties.

Customer Service and Reputation

Tempur-Pedic’s website is very user-friendly, as they mainly sell online, though there are retail stores across the country that carry their products. Since they offer such a large variety of mattresses, their offer of live chat or phone consultation can be quite helpful.

Tempur-Pedic is a Better Business Bureau-accredited company, with an A+ rating. The company itself reports 90% satisfaction, and many reviewers rate them higher than average in terms of materials, pain relief, support, lifespan, firmness variety and in-store availability.
