Final Thoughts – Allied Home Warranty

Allied Home Warranty makes getting coverage less confusing by introducing its one-page contract. The company does provide good coverage for common house appliances and systems but it certainly lacks in depth when compared to other home warranty services. Allied Home Warranty offers 24/7 customer support and makes home warranty fast and easy.

Do NOT use this company! We called because our A/C went out. Allied said they'd send Affordable Heating and Air out of Abilene Tx (2 1/2 hours away)the next day. I called Affordable 3 times the next afternoon, each time they assured me the tech would be there that day. They showed up 3 days later. They said that the compressor had a hole on the bottom caused by dog urine. Allied called and said that because the hole was caused by dog urine it was not normal wear and tear and they would not repair it. 1st of all the unit is at least 10 years old and behind a fence where my dog would not be able to access it, 2nd my dog is a female and as such would have a hard time urinating on an air... Allied home warranty declined to fix the water heater heating element because they claimed that Plano water damaged the heating element. If Plano water is bad for water heater, why do they cover water heaters in plano? They were not helpful and they charged us $950 to replace it. Very disappointed. Also, their people were rude to us. We finally cancelled the coverage.

I had their service for over one year and should have given my money to a homeless person. Then it might have done some good. As in the other reviews, you are required to use their contractors who are grossly over priced and obviously in collusion with Allied. If you don't you have no coverage. Save yourself an ulcer and DO NOT USE.

I have had a policy with this company for over 5 years. Over the last 2 years I have filed a claim for repairs of a washing machine, microwave, and dishwasher. Each time they have decided to not pay for the repairs but offer a cash amount that is so small that you can not get the appliance repaired and is normally less than half the price you paid. In the last dishwasher case they offered $200 and they check took over 2 months to arrive. Obviously this creates a situation requiring you to go purchase a new appliance and pay a huge increase for a similar appliance. I have terminated my service with them - as 3 times and several lost weeks of service of an appliance is not right.

One of the worst home warranty companies we have ever had! Terrible customer service. When you enter a claim you never hear back from anyone until you harass them for a response. They never have people to send to our area, so we have to do self service claims and then they do not reimburse or cover hardly anything. They would rather lose customers than make a situition right. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Here is how the Allied Home Warranty scam works. They charge you a $60 service call fee, about the same you would pay for any other company for a service call. Then they over-quote the cost of repairs and provide a small token allowance toward the repair or they will outright refuse to make the repair by calling it a "modification" and not covered by the contract. For example, if your water heater breaks they charge $60 to come look at it. Then they may tell you it will be $1,500 to replace it and your warranty gives you a $200 discount, so it will be $1,300. You could have called your own plumber and had the same work done for half the cost, but they require you to use their own repair... Read More

This warranty company provides you with a worthless piece of paper that basically covers nothing. The "repair pros" they send out are a total joke, cashing your checks to "order parts" and then never to be seen again. I have complained to Allied about a shady appliance repair person, received and apology and was told "we will reassign another vendor" only to have the same shady fool arrive at my doorstep. Allied's reply "well, that was all we had in your area." I guess South Austin is too far out in the middle of nowhere and there are no reputable repair people? Save your money. This one is full of losers and scammers.
