Final Verdict

GetSafe Home Security and Vivint Home Security are very close in quality and have the same overall rating. That said, GetSafe scores better than Vivint across: Alerts, Contract Terms, and Cost. Whereas, Vivint scores better on Coverage, Monitoring Services, Equipment, Monitoring Technology, Installation, and Reviews. Both companies score similarly on Customer Service.

Don't know what's wrong with those who trash Vivint. I've had the system for several months now and couldn't be more pleased. By nature I am an extremely picky, technical minded, individual. I looked at other systems before deciding on Vivint. Different prices but when you peel the onion, if you want a lower price be prepared to get minimally acceptable equipment for the basic installation and pay more (often a lot more) up front if you want better. When all the payments for their service are added up over the time of my commitment, the total cost is approximately the same as what some have to pay for the installation alone from one of the "Big, Well Known, Companies" if you want their top line system. If one takes that into account then the actual monthly monitoring cost is lower than a cheapie DIY installed system. I have unwittingly triggered the alarm when I let out the dog to do his business at 4 AM. Even when silencing the alarm by entering my code, within seconds someone was in contact with me via the control panel to make sure it was truly a false alarm. Follow-up messages were sent to my smartphone and e-mail as well. From the initial call, appointment, on time technician, and response to my absent minded false alarms, I couldn't ask for more. I can access my in home and doorbell cameras from anywhere my smartphone receives a signal. When someone approaches my front door (like a delivery person) I get notified. When the doorbell is rung, I get notified. I can speak to and hear back from anyone at my front porch, even if I'm miles away. Solicitors don't know I'm not there and leave when I tell them "I'm not interested". On the doorbell camera, it actually looks like a normal doorbell switch, not like some of the other units that shout "Camera, Camera". Look beyond the monthly charge. You are getting a lot more than just monitoring for that price. Top end equipment, quality Customer Service, and friendly people as well. Like I said in my opening, I am by nature a fussy creature but Vivint has yet to give me anything to complain about. No, I have not been solicited to write this review or received any incentive. I have been retired for many years from a job totally unrelated to the alarm business. I just wanted to put my opinion out there for those who might have been scared by all the "One Star" ratings. They make me wonder if they're even talking about the same company.

I got the system about a year and a half ago and have had no issues. The back-up battery has come in handy several times when i had power issues at home. The camera's in my home are great and mobile app works well. I've had several family and friends also use the system and love it.
