Depending on the option you choose, security systems may include an event-triggered alarm, live surveillance, an assortment of indoor and outdoor cameras, motion sensors, door and window sensors, recessed door sensors, glass break protection, and crash-and-smash protection for their control panel. You can also opt for environmental protection, such as carbon monoxide, flood, temperature change and smoke sensors, as well as a panic button and an emergency alert button. New for 2022, ADT security systems feature the Google Nest doorbell. The highly-rated device features HD video and two-way audio. It can also tell the difference between people, packages, animals, and vehicles. Not too concerned about the neighbor's cat hanging out on your porch? You can customize the Google Nest doorbell to only alert you to the events that matter most to you.

How much does ADT Home Security cost?

ADT offers five security system service plans to choose from: Basic ($28.99/month), Secure (45.99/month), Smart (49.99/month), Video ($56.99/month), and Complete ($59.99/month). Plans require a 36-month minimum contract. Additionally, in the event of early contract termination, ADT may require the client to pay 75% of the monthly charges due for the balance of the first 36-months. The company does offer a 6-month money-back guarantee and a limited warranty for their products (restrictions apply), but overall, ADT seeks a long-term commitment from the customer.

To help protect customers against the cost of unexpected service calls, ADT offers extended limited warranty protection, called their Quality Service Plan, or QSP. While ADT's electronic technology is designed to meet the highest standards, no manufactured equipment is 100% perfect. QSP adds additional coverage some customers might prefer.

ADT has invested in upgrading to the latest wireless technology to help protect your home and keep the installation process as streamlined as possible. Like many newer systems, ADT wireless security systems rely on radio waves to connect your home’s cameras and sensors to the control panel.

In addition, ADT operates six monitoring centers. In the event that your assigned monitoring center goes offline, a security breach or call for help from your home will be automatically rerouted to the next available center.

The ADT Essentials plan for basic digital monitoring service has a limited warranty on parts and labor, something that other competitors do not offer. If you want additional protection, the Essentials Plus package includes 2-way voice monitoring. Like all plans, this one includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies. However, both plans require customers to have access to their own landline phone.

Customers who do not have landlines can opt for the ADT Secure plan. This plan includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies and add the peace of mind that comes from knowing that an intruder cannot cut your home’s landline. There is an ADT protection plan for all budgets and needs.

ADT Home Security systems are very user-friendly, and during installation, the technician will show you how to use the equipment. There is technical support available to answer any questions customers have about the equipment. ADT offers professional installation, several monthly plans with competitive rates, and allows users to choose between wireless and hardwired systems. Keep in mind, though, that customers must sign a three-year agreement for all ADT security monitoring plans.

Customer Service is not a priority! ADT Level 1 Call Center is incompetence at its best. Our alarm system is beeping continuously (and we had this problem at least 3 times in the past). We called ADT to report our problem and its policy is a call back within 48 hours. Yes they did, in 48 hours and the ADT rep offers the appointment in 7 days! Hum, not acceptable as we say can’t sleep with that loud beep and we have an opened house in 2 days. Than the genial workaround offered is to power down the system until the technician get to our place, yes in 7 days! Furious, we asked to be escalated to the next level. I have been a loyal ADT customer without any complaints until now. My home flooded in August 2016. Since we're restoring our home, my husband felt it would be a great time to update our services. ADT has been sending information that was appealing. We received 3 different prices within an hour, being transfer from sales to customer loyalty then being disconnected. The price ranged from $500 to $181 due at signing and $40 plus a month. AT&T rescheduled my appointment to activate land line, so I had to reschedule ADT. This service is by far the worst. For the last year it has been an uphill battle trying to get the help and service I need for the 60.00 I pay per month. Each and every person I talk to has a different story and say something different. They have no integrity or service skills. They have no fallow up from the manger down to the sales people. I have tried to buy multiple items and services for the last year and they just can't get it going done or even try.

RIght now my rating is no stars. We have had ADT in our home for close to 20 years. I have recently come upon a low battery issue. Called the office, they said they would ship a new battery out within 5-7 work days, that was the week of May 26, 2018. It is now June 16, and we have still not received the new battery. The alarm is still going off periodically day and night. I called ADT today they could only tell me the package was sitting in a Fed Ex location waiting to be shipped since JUNE 1, 2018. The Rep could only give me tracking # and ph# for fed ex for me to call and find out where the pkg was. I made the call only to find out Fed ex has to open an investigation into where the... I tried for 6 months to cancel my service. I had a fire...hit the alarm button and no one ever called me back. They said I had a level 2 system and needed a level 4 to continue my service...but only when I signed a new contract for another 2 years with a price increase. I was literally STALKED by ADT people at my house. When I called to report this the account rep stated that she had been stalked as well before and that was a great reason to keep the service. I said "really...I need to keep ADT to prevent me from being stalked by one of your people"...she said yes...Alex Harrison was the rep I spoke with. I called to have ADT installed at our home. The technician came out and could not install the system because "he could not authorization for a new system". We were told that he would schedule someone to come out on the following business day between 8 -12 pm. Noone called, noone came, when called ADT I was told that the technician had cancelled our installation. They had notes that someone was supposed to come out, but they dropped the ball. We had to pay a deposit on the phone, before they came to our house but it can take up to 10 business days for them to credit it back to our card.
